SENIOR CLASS HISTORY On September 3, 1956, thirty-one so-called greenles entered Parker Rural High School. To the Seniors we were like green bananas who furn- ished some fun. Although some of us were a little doubtful about bearing the burden , we took it upon our shoulders. After the first month or two, the burden actually seemed lighter. We elected Gary Richardson, President; Mike Rogers, Vice-President; Fern Dunlop, Secre- tary; Beverly Harold, Treasurer; and Pat Goodall and Lowell Alexander as Student Council members. Finally we were accepted into PRHS as Panthers. The teachers were bewildered by the troops of comic strip characters, hobos, high society girls and hillbillies that filled the halls of PRHS. We ended our Freshmen year with a Freshmen-Sophomore skating party• In the fall of 1957, we came back for our second year at PRHS. We elected the following: Gerry Barrett, President; Linda Prent- ice, Vice-President; Carole Stites, Secretary; James Randall, Treasur- er; and Donna Hampton and Tom McCray as Student Council members. Mrs. Moore and Mr. Smith were our sponsors. We gathered more interest in extra-curricular activities as the year progressed. Our junior year started off with a bangl Thirty-one juniors had enlisted for duty, I mean enrolled in school. We elected the follow- ing as our leaders: Bev Harold, President; Lowell Alexander, Vice- President; Gary Richardson, Secretary; Gerry Barrett, Treasurer; and Peggy Burns and Kenneth Shirley as Student Council members. Miss Fred- erickson and Mr. Ward were our sponsors. We presented the junior play, Who Dunnit? in January. Then on April 2l+, we entertained the Seniors with a Junior-Senior Banquet. The theme was Aloha . Well, after three years of high school life, we found ourselves more eager to return to school. We found ourselves working harder to- ward our goal, A High School Education. We elected Gary Richardson as our President, Peggy Burns as our Vice-President, Gerry Barrett as our secretary, Jessie Dunlop as our treasurer, and Linda Prentice and Lowell Alexander as Student Council members. Lowell Alexander was elected president of the student body also. Mrs. Moore and Mr. Lemon were our sponsors. On April 21, the juniors honored us with a Junior-Senior Banquet, the theme being, THE LAST ROUND-UP . It was decorated very much like the old west, with saddles, wagon-wheels, cactus, lanterns, and a camp- fire among some old logs. On May 6, I960, twenty-one Seniors and two sponsors left for Colo- rado on their sneak trip. We visited many scenic places such as the following: Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, the Garden of the Gods, and the beautiful Seven Falls. Our last class party was a surprise party presented to us by our sponsor, Mr. Lemon. We knew that our days at PRHS were now numbered. Our baccalau- reate services were held May 22. One chapter of our life has now closed, that of a high school student, but we will be opening a new chapter, some of us might wish to join the Navy, some might be farmers, maybe some of us will be a partner in matrimony, some will choose to further their education; but whatever road we might take, we hope to meet again many times in the future. We chose the red rose as our class flower, blue and silver as our class colors, and our motto is, NOT MERELY TO EXIST, BUT TO AMOUNT TO SOME THING IN LIFE. By Beverly Harold
