. I Haydn: 26-The sophomore class wouldn't let the freshmen out-do them so they had a party in the gym tonight. 28-The junior class had a skating party in the Parker City Hall. I'm afraid I couldn't stand up on those funny little wheels so I'm thanl-:ml I'm not a junior. They said that they rmde all the juniors put on a pair--even the sponsors, Miss Frederickson and Coach Jilka skated. 30-Tomorrow night is Hal lowecn so I guess we'll have to round up a bunch and do our knocking on doors tonight because tomorrow is Sunday. NOVEMBER 1-Nothing much doing. Had one unexpected quiz today. I probably flunked it be- cause I didn't have my lesson very well. 4-Floods! Both wet and dry-rain and assignments, respectively. Louisburg came down to play football today. It looks as if our boys can play better in mud and water up to their knees. We won by a score of 7 to O. 5-We get a long looked forward to vacation-teacher's meeting. 8-Lost nv fountain pen so I nude my first announcement in assembly today. Never knew there were so many people in that auditorium until I turned around and faced them. That was a critical time to discover it, too. Wish I had thought about it ba- fore. 10-Several of my friends have the flu. I hope I don't take it. I live and breathe and have my being in musterole and listerine these days. 12-The boys went to Mound City only to be beaten by a score of 26 to O. If I were- n't such a faithful han, I'd never go out again to see them beat. It nearly tears my poor heart in two. 15-I'm taking the flu! Oh my back and my bones and my head! That's what I call tough luck with tomorrow being the last football game of the season. Guess I won't get to see it. 17-Flu, aspirin, musterole-and the rest. Wish Thanksgiving were over because I haven't anything to be thankful for now. 18-The Public Speaking class had a tea so they could put into practice their art of conversation. I think they invited a few of the students in to tea. Too bad I was- n't at school. I always did like tea. 19-I've been in bed all day. But things are looking up because it snowed and they postponed the game. Maybe I'll get to see it after all. 23-The F. F. A. organization sponsored a Pie and Box Supper tonight but because of my fluey past , I'm.stay:lng in and writing letters. ' V 24-Not much doing today. I heard that school would be dismissed early on account 'of tomorrow being Thanksgiving. I hope I don't eat too much turkey. l 50-Today was our last game. Kincaid came and we beat them by a score of 7 'to O. I went to the game and did as much yelling as anyone. I guess we must be pretty good, but I can't get any sense out of the game. Theghjust run up end down the field with the ball and then fall all over each other. ybe I'll learn by the time I'm a senior. DECEMBER 2-Music amateur program tonight. Too bad I still have such a cold. If I hadn't I'd have gotten a prize beck-use I can sing lots better than the girl that get a prize 5-The Girl Reserves had a panty for the football boys tonight. We surely had a lot of fun. We played games and then refreshments were served. I guess the boys and Coach Jilka deserved that much, anywayg we only lost 3 games. 8-The junior class sponsored a orrnival in the high school gym tonight. I took my penny bank down to the bla cksmith shop and had it opened so 1 could take in every- thing. 10-Our first basketball game and we won. We beat Merwin by a score of Let's keep up the good work boys. 15-Saw the la , Scarecrow Creeps, given b the Oral En lish class. The play was P 5' Y S good and it surely made me creep all the way home. I was so scared that I couldn't walk. 17-Basketball game with llound City here. We won by a score of 18 to 16. I really like basketball games, and we have a good team this year. How do I know? I didn't have to be told. We girls used to play basketball in grade school so I know some- thing about the game. 18-Tonight the senior class sponsored the picture show Pig-Skin Parade. They had free bus service so they had a large crowd. I wish they'd have them more often. I surely like picture shows. 21-The boys went to Prescott to play basketball tonight. The pocketbook is getting rather flat so I didn't go. They came back and told me about it. Tie won 26 to 25. 23-The sophomore class sponsored an assembly program this afternoon. Santa was there and gave us our gifts and then we were dismissed for vacation. 28 to 9. JANUARY 3-Back to classes. Excitement is about as scarce as snow flakes in July. Coach Jilka didn't get back from his vacation. Guess he must have had too much Christmas spirit. 4.-More of nothing--except final preparation which is worse than nothing. disagree 50 lf'-hz Jurl TFT 72 L-irc fa dlasslff al Lx ' X lu ffffx f 522: 99 NI-s 'part 0 rl , M 4- nf r 4 -'Q x JK H 5 ' IL-.I . e---1 MII X L 1 Xi U Y I-, fi Z L. 1- '- , l. lv . xx... - ' M! -1 Q X I xi Jownefs first 165.5071 'L MN! --1 ' fx! pnqn f?!!'f!.!' 71. ,lllqln Hf'fIf1fV'f n 7 i . I f QW W , SEPTEMBER 6-School started today. This large building with so many rooms and teachers almost frightens me. How will I ever learn where to go each hour and get acquainted with my teachers and olassmtesf 7-I'm still carrying my schedule with me so I will know where I am supposed to go. I have mde friends with two freshmen, a sophomore, and a junior, but alas! those seniors are unapproachable. I 8-I've learned the names of all my teachers but I do not know those that I have no classes under. One of them fthey told me he was the music teacherj looks like a student instead of a teacher. 9-I have thrown my schedule away because I no longer need it. One of my friends who has a good memory, has the same classes as I have, so I just follow her around. 10-Today I had my first big disappointment in high school. Everyone had been tell- 'ing me about the swell assembly program they had every Friday and I was looking for- ward to my first one very eagerly. But they d:ldn't have one today. I guess things ihaven't gotten started well yet. Nll-ly first week of school had worn me out so lother let me sleep this morning until 'I was ready to get up. I took advantage of this and slept until ten bells. I wish fthey wouldgtreat me that nice at school. 312-No sleeping until ten o'clock today. hmm made me get up early and go to church ,and Sunday School. Oh well, there are other Saturdays to look forward to. 13-Whoever called Honday blue londay surely hit the nail on the head. I didn't have uany of my lessons and when I tried to relax and forget my troubles in study hall the teacher came along, poked me in the ribs, and told me to get busy. 114--Congratulate mel A senior girl spoke to me today-but only to ask me to join ,Girl Reserve. I'd like to know what I'm getting into before I join. They tell me 'that lliss Frederickson is sponsor and she gave me an awfully sweet smile yesterday so I guess I'll ask her to tell me about it. ?l5-We had our first G. R. meeting today. I think I shall join because it will be interesting. They told us something about the organization in the meeting today. fl6-Nothing unusual happened today-except that I became acquainted with two more jseniors and three juniors. laybe by the end of this semester I will know all of th0me , 17-lhen I came back to school at noon, I could hardly get through the halls on ac- count of the lovesick couples standing around. Being as bad as all this now, I wonder what it will be like when school is half' over. 18--Oh sleep! Blessed sleep! I guess you've gone forever. Mama only took pity on ,me last week because I was starting to high school. Today she made me get up early and help clean house. I guess I won't look forward so strongly to next Saturday. ,2l-Some one mentioned football today. I wonder what it is. From what I can gather it must be a game. Wish they'd hurry up and start something. This is worse than grade school. we had recess there and we could go out and play thirty minutes each da . 22i-Today was another G. R. meeting. 1 learn more about it every week. I know that I'm going to join. They had a program today. It wasn't very long, though. I wish they'd hurry and start having those chapel programs or whatever they are. 23-Nothing happened today except that I got a bawling out in both my study halls. One of them was for sleeping and the other was for reading a magazine. Guess I'll ,ggyllf T df lm? I wentcyow sl' J W' weve to the game and yelled when every one else did but why I was yelling, no one knows. to Send oufl. ca-rcu,la.'r 27-Talk about blue Mondayl This one was purple. Same old Monday classes. Don't know why 'I wanted to go to high school anyway. OCTOBER l-Another football game today. We played at LaCygne and beat them 6 to O. They took four bus loads so I went along. I didn't want to stay here and have class alone. Again I yelled but I don't know why I was yelling. 4-Blue Monday! Everything turned hopelessly black when I was presented with two quizzes today. Oh well, some teachers never will use any judgment anyway. 5-Regular diet of algebra and English, without any relish. My appetite for such is growing stale. 8-Blue Hound walloped us here today. The score was 30 to O. They must have lost because I didn't go out to yell for them. ll-Glee Club practice today. Doesn't sound as though they need me in there-I stop- ped singing once and you could not have told I stopped. They went on just as though I'd never sung. 15-Heard some of the seniors talking today-it seems that they are planning to have to do those things. Wellsville I guess I'll have to start go- to cheer them on. the seniors had their party. I have gone. They said that only a party soon. ' I wonder if we freshmen are allowed came here for a game today, and it was a tie 0 to 0. ing to the games. Maybe we would win if I were there 18-Usual old llonday routine, only more so. Tonight don't see why they didn't invite ms, I'd liked to seniors were allowed, but I saw Coach Jilka going in. 22-Our boys went to Pleasanton to play football today. They beat us by a score of 12 to 7. We'll hope for better luck next time. 25-This was my night. The freshmen had a party in the high school gym. I guess we had pretty much the same idea as the seniors because we invited Coach Jilka to our party. The seniors ordered their rings today. They got out of classes all day to select them. Too bad I'm not a senior. 20 lelfe-rs. When ,H Pckeafnceds 5 FX! 0,4 es Nl ge vary N ...g 6 eg . gli, lx LA KJ! I wmv -TQBX 6 X
