The action started when Virgil Keech, a miser and the meanest man in town, comes into possession of an old deserted mansion, Kenforth. He was determined to fix it up and make a fortune out of it, but this was interrupted when Brenda Fortesque, a woman who has been searching for a haunted house, comes along and rents it. Before the new tenant can take over, Virgil Keech is murdered. With the arrival of the phony in- spector, suspicion swings toward him. Then he is cleared and the guilt is placed on the shoulders of Sherman Norton, Judy Keech's fiance. Finally, the truth comes out and Barrow, the old caretaker, confesses to the murder of Virgil Keech. This act of revenge was prompted by a frame-up that Barrow had suffered at the hands of Keech when he Was a young man. After Barrow confesses he becomes hysterical and commits sui- cide to end the play. .-421

An apple a day may keep the doctor away, but when the doctor is your wife - well, that's different. Dr. Ann Butler,s practice keeps her away from songwriting husband, Tom, and their high school-age twins, Julie and Doug. But when a Well-meaning neighbor, Mrs. Hanson, announces he is one of the final candidates for Mother of The Year, and Doug gets expelled from school because he can't take the fellows' kidding about his father being a housewife, Tom decides itls time to quit. Ann takes over the housework, but she also brings her office and her nurse, sarcastic, man-hating Pat Flanagan, into her living room which she turned into the office. Hank Steincke, an ex-vacuum salesman, saves the day, however, by getting some of Tom's songs published, Tom goes back to his housework, Ann moves her office back downtown, and julie and Doug are now proud of their parents, where at first, they were ashamed of them. It ends with the firm conclusion that it takes more than a house to make a home, and ffrom Father's point of view, at least,j more than an apron to make a housewife. .43-
