Randolph, the youngest of the two Foster children, is constantly teasing someone. Judy, the Foster's other child, is interested in becoming queen of her club's dance. Since the girl who raises the most money for the community relief fund will become queen, Judy decided to enter a number of contests as a way of raising money. Judy enters the names of her family and friends in the different contests that are run, specifying that the winning money should be contributed to the community relief fund in her name. Judy wins no prize money but she receives all kinds of merchan- dise. Mr. Foster is accredited the award of honorable mention for having the most kissable lips. Mrs. Foster is overcome with 24 bottles of hair dye. This three-act comedy adapted from the radio program of the same name affords a close-up study of some of the problems of the American youth and the effect of them on their families. Humor, pathos, human interest and philosophy are inter- woven and expressed through real characters. This play will be remembered as one having real interest and value. Tremba, C. Buzard, Miss Schmidt SEVENTEENTH SUMMER This play was dramatized by Annie Coulter Martens from the book by Maureen Daly. It is a very good type of play for high school production as it deals with problems encountered by all members of a typical American family. The author supplies human interest, good humor, and educational comments on difficult problems through the vehicles of life-like characters in life-like situations. The class of 1953 feels that SEVENTEENTH SUMMER was the beginning of a plan to bring better quality plays to our community. It was well received by the public and was the object of many favorable comments. Several of the members of the cast gave commendable performances. Outstanding were Mary Lou Pipher as Angie, Martha Gerwick as Kitty, Joan Mullen as Mrs. Morrow, and Ned Horner as Jack. STUDENT COUNCIL First Row: A. Tremba, B. Stewart, N. Johns, N. Horner, L. King, Mr. Tremba, B. Blymiller, M. Francisco. Second Row: J. Marnie, B. King, D. Tremba, E. Dearolph, R. Bowser. Ned Horner as president has just called the Student Council to order, Norma Johns, acting Secretary-Treasurer is ready to record any business discussed or acted upon and the president of each class and an elected representative are present as members of this group of students who have a voice in the many problems of our school. We, the members of the Student Council, as representatives from our respective classes try to be alert to the problems of our classmates and to bring these problems up for discussion. This year our activity has touched the following projects: making plans to pick and bring to the students one movie monthly which we think will be liked, rules regarding the disposing of lunch papers, bags, and trash during lunch period, and rules and supervision of election of cheerleaders. We feel we have had a taste of democracy and self government through Student Government and that much more could be done in the future. Mr. Tremba, our sponsor, has just mentioned that our time is about up. A motion is quickly made and seconded and the meeting is adjourned.
