TRI-HI-Y The club was introduced in Parker for the first time in October, 1946. Since then the membership has increased to twenty mem- bers. It was organized to interest girls in com- munity life and to create future leadership. The regular meetings are held every two weeks with the cabinet meetings being held during the odd weeks. Each meeting is opened with devotions which are followed by a selec- tion of songs, hymns, Tri-Hi-Y Song, and a few modern versions of the old -and remem- bered. After the business session is closed, a program is given by one of the members of the club. It consists of skits and discussions on dating, manners, parent and child relation- ship, and one of the most enjoyed programs was that of the Valentine Party held in one of the class rooms. The most important ac- complishment of the club this year was the trip to the Clarion County Home of the Aged. Objectives of Tri-Hi-Y are to improve the body, mind and spirit, and promote fellow- ship, good will, and friendship. I The platform of the club is Self Improve- ment, Christian Fellowship, and United Serv- ice. Our club advisor is Miss Reithmiller. NATURE CLUB During this school year this club has studied several phases of nature. Discussions were conducted on such fields as hunting, fishing, game laws, and game conservation, and safety in handling guns. These subjects proved of in- terest to the membership which is entirely boys. Several hikes have been taken on which the club members study nature in the field. When warmer weather arrives the club hopes to take many more hikes. The club has added to its collection of reference books and reading ma- terial. Many pamphlets have been made available through the Pennsylvania Game Commission. Nature study can lead to a profitable vocation, an enjoyable hobby, or to better understanding of life and its complex network of inter-relationships.

The club meetings were held every week in one of the class rooms. Many types of art were used, some of these mediums were charcoal drawing, water coloring, finger painting, clay modeling, and various types of designing. At Christmas time, the students designed and painted candle holders. They created flowers out of paper, and painted maps on material for wall decorations. Anyone who is interested in any type of art can find his interest in this club. The membership is small this first year of its existence, but we hope that more students will join the club next year.
