February Variety how A hilarious account of the preparation preceding the big homecoming game. the Senior Yariety' Show presented an array' of more than two hundred performers. It all started in Pop's lywilliaiil Fryel campus store. Bruce 1Lewis lidwardsl. the football hero was in danger of flunking his trig test and becoming ineligible to play. His girl Yeronica tBarbara Ricketts! agreed to go to the homecoming game with llorace tlieorge Bihlmayerl the school square. if he would help Bruce pass the test. To complicate the situation further. there was no place for the Variety' Show to practice before the performance on the eve of the game. Pop agreed to let them use his store. and the show started moving. Variety was just what it wasg there were pantomimes. recitations, solos. group presentations. and musical numbers. Tomhoy' Penny' lYolanda llembreel talked :Xlice lhileanor Yvoodsonl into coming to the game. even though Alice believed school should be strictly for education. Un the way to the stadium. the bus bringing the team and the Variety Show cast. broke down. The other bus. carrying the faculty and cheerleaders. arrived at the stadium safely. Faculty lfroliesf' a riotous number presented by the teachers was rehearsed while they awaited the team. Meanwhile. in a deserted shack. the team coaxed llorace into fixing the bus while the others took this opportunity to rehearse for the show to be held after the game. This portion of the show included ballads. baton twirling. a tap dance number. singing. a recitation and a real highlight of the show. a ballet'??? presented by the football team. Following this were other dances and group presentations. The homecoming game ended in victory and the gang was all ready' for the big event of the evening. the Coronation. The Freshman .-Xttendant. joan Cagliano. the Sophomore Attendant. Marian l'itisci. the junior Attendant. Beyerly Day is. the Senior Attendant. lleverly' Owens. accompanied the V956 l'l NE Queen.
