Spring Awards Traditionally, the highest honors earned by juniors has been selection for Girl's and Boy's State. 1966 delegates were Marilou Beaver, Kathy Carnahan, Larry Russell, and Ricky Davis. A new award, the Outstanding Junior Award, was given to Mary Jan Weil and Larry Russell by the University of Arizona. The annual D. A. R. award, given to a senior girl, was awarded to Nell Brennan, who also won the Betty Crocker Homemaker Award. For band, Reggie McCormick received the Most Improved Player Award. The John Philip Sousa Award was given to Rick Davis. The Outstanding Bandsman Award was given to Nick Holt. Bobby Hatch was given the title of FFA Star Green Hand, annually awarded to a freshman. The Star Chapter Farmer and FFA Outstanding Senior awards were given to Carl Studer. Event North played in the All-Star championship baseball game. The All-Conference Baseball Awards were given to Edwin Powsey, Evertt North, and John Gibbs. Garry Neider was awarded the Outstanding Tracks-man Award. The Outstanding Athlete of the Year Award was given to Everett North. The sports Spark Plug Awards were given to: Tony Harper, in baseball and basketball, Earl Zeyouma, football, and Leroy Hall, track. Boy's and Girl's State delegates Ricky Davis, Larry Russell, Kathy Carnahan, Marilou Beaver with Mr. Sims. Outstanding Juniors Larry Russell, and Mary Jane Weil are presented plaques by Mr. Sims.
