PHEASANTS MAKE THE MUST OF SEASON The 1986 season began with excitement and anticipation. With a desire for revenge, the Pheasants traveled to Garretson for the season opener. They fought hard but lost a close contest.After that Parker cruised by both Hurley and Gayville-Volin. Then PHS ran into tough going the remainder of the season including a loss to Wakonda on homecoming night. The Pheasant squad ended their season with a 2-6 record. Several records were set this year, including the most receptions in a season C273 and career C39J both by tight end Mike Iefferis. Plus Mike set new records for yards gained receiving in a season C5081 and a career f700l. Iefferis also tied two previous records for the most touchdowns caught in a career f12j and for the most interceptions in a season Q6J. ' The other player who set records was quarter- back Ken Pietz. He attempted 128 passes in a sea- son including 25 in one game, both are new records. He also tied a previous record for 10 passes completed in one game. 62 Football Ken Pietz dropping back for the pass. CRightJ Prepare to attack!

Coach Mr. Bjorneberg, Christensen, Michele Crist, Stacy Leininger, Tricia Rhonda Friese, Paula Viet, Iennifer DeVries, Tonya Petersen, Linda Merrill, Plucker, Ierrice Nelson, Coach Pheasants Refuel For Another Season By defeating Canton, an A school, the Lady Pheasants vroomed to the end of their regular season on a victorious note. Under the new leadership of head coach Mrs. Christensen and assistant coach Mr. Bjorneberg, the girls compiled a 6-16 record. From the beginning to the end of the season, the girls experienced many close games. Iennifer Plucker with the help of her teammate Linda Merrill, assist's leader, scored 237 points, while Linda had 57 assists for the season. Rhonda Friese, the leading offensive rebounder with 56, was always there to give the Lady Pheasants another try. On the other end of the court, Ienni- fer Was high defensive rebounder with 107. As the season came to a screeching halt, the four seniors Jennifer, Linda, Rhonda, and Tricia left their tracks behind on the PHS court, but the under- classmen will return to fill their shoes. 64 Girls Basketball , if fi Receiving conference honors were Linda Merril1-Honor- able Mention and jenny Plucker-All Conference.
