Keys To Enthusiasm We Back the Pheasants We Back the Best was one of the chants you heard as the cheer- leaders led the pheasants into team spirit. The cheerleaders were busy this year making posters, wall signs, and cheering on their teams. In the fall, the girls basketball and football cheerleaders and i their advisor, Mrs. Bossman, went to a cheerleading clinic at O'Gorman. They learned a routine and a couple of new cheers and chants. If you asked the cheerleaders what they remembered most, they would answer: doing cheer aerobics and going to 'Nite City' for a fash ion show, pizza, and dancing. PHEASANTS MAKE THE MUST OF SEASON The 1986 season began with excitement and anticipation. With a desire for revenge, the Pheasants traveled to Garretson for the season opener. They fought hard but lost a close contest.After that Parker cruised by both Hurley and Gayville-Volin. Then PHS ran into tough going the remainder of the season including a loss to Wakonda on homecoming night. The Pheasant squad ended their season with a 2-6 record. Several records were set this year, including the most receptions in a season C273 and career C39J both by tight end Mike Iefferis. Plus Mike set new records for yards gained receiving in a season C5081 and a career f700l. Iefferis also tied two previous records for the most touchdowns caught in a career f12j and for the most interceptions in a season Q6J. ' The other player who set records was quarter- back Ken Pietz. He attempted 128 passes in a sea- son including 25 in one game, both are new records. He also tied a previous record for 10 passes completed in one game. 62 Football Ken Pietz dropping back for the pass. CRightJ Prepare to attack!
