The qualifications needed for a great chorus are dedication, prac- tice, hard work, and a couple of lucky turns, but it also takes tal- ent. Our chorus had been learn- ing, practicing, and singing, all of which to get ready for the many performances they did either at concerts or at contests. Under the direction of Miss Diana Gough, the chorus was really turning to the tunes. The year started off with several twists and turns. Around one turn were the annual Winter and Spring concerts, also the an- nual Music Booster's Dinner. Turning at the next corner, the chorus performed at the Home- coming and Graduation ceremo- nies. The bend labeled contests up ahead went very smoothly. The chorus made appearances at Vermillion and Freeman, topping it all off with the major sight at the end of road Cand yearj, the contest at Minneapolis, Minn. All State Chorus. 52 Moving with the Beat From the PHS gym to Minne- apolis, Minn., the band had been performing, marching, competing and moving people. Winter and Spring concerts along with Homecoming and graduation were not only enter- taining but also showed much of the talent and hard work put into each member's instruments. They showed this in many ways too, like the various contests they par- ticipated in. The members showed off their talent through playing while marching at the Marion, Turtle Days and Madison parades. As you can tell the band literally moved with the beat and finally ended the year with their trip to Minneapolis for a contest, where they marched, and per- formed a concert.
