GIRLS BASKETBALL A quick gllmpse ot the 1985 glrls basketball season shows that the glrls had a year of great learning and much growing. This year's team consist- ed ot sixteen glrls, leadlng them were Roger Deutsch and Jlll Christensen as coaches. Ottenslvely Jennlter Plucker was the leader, scoring 11.1 polnts a game and 188 polnts during the year. Stacy Lelnlnger was next averaging 4.1 polnts a game and 77 polnts for the season. The rebounding category was dominated by Rhonda Frlese averaging 6.9 a game and 131 on the season. Plucker also led ln shooting percentage with 381, wlth Linda Merrlll averaging tour assists a game and shooting 571, from the free throw llne. The glrls season ended 0-19, but their success cannot be measured by only wlns or losses. They can measure thelr success In other ways. This season's success can be measured by the time the girls got to play, galnlng valuable experience. Also, this year the girls can agree with the statement, Success is peace ot mind which is a direct result ot selt-satis- tactlon In knowlng you dld your best to become the best that you are capable of becomlng. BCYS BASKETBALL A gllmpse ot November 1985 showed a group ot guys, all Juniors and Senlors, worklng for thelr maln goal they had set, a trip to the state tournament. These boys were determined to make lt without tallure. Many hurdles were ln the way but the Pheasants never gave up. There were tough teams in the dlstrlcts, but a second chance gave them a berth In the Reglons, and then the rlght to go to the state tourna ment. The team averaged 60 polnts per game to thelr opponents 53.7 polnts. The team's leadlng scorer was D. Hoy wlth 414 polnts averaglng 15.9 polnts per game. Darln also lead In shootlng wlth 541, tree throws 741 Gnd he dished Out the TTIOSI CSSISTS, 230 averaglng 8.9 per game. The team's reboundlng was led by C. Nelson wlth 237, aver- aglng 8.1 per game. As a team, the Pheasants outrebounded thelr opponents 31.1 to 30 rebounds per game, shot 451 from the tleld, and 651 from the free throw llne. Thls year's team proved to stlll be a powerhouse ln the Blg Sloux Conference tlnlsh Ing second overall and slxth In the Conference tournament. They poured it on to wards the end by placlng second In the Dlstrlcts, lirsl in the Reglons, and fltth In the State Tournament. ln you face Mme .
