FOOTBALL A gllmpse ofthe Parker football team would show that a lot of thlngs have changed In the last year. The football team under the dlrectlon of new head coach Gary Kropuenske, had a wlnnlng season of slx vlctorles and three losses. For the flrst tlme ln a number ot years the football team won the Homecoming game CQGIDSI AICSSTST 47-14. Records were set thls year also. Carter Krumbach set the record for most yards rushlng ln one season-1060 yards. He also had most carrles In one season-185 and most two-polnt converslons In a season-6. Chad Nelson took the record for most receptlons In one sea son-21, and most yards gained recelvlng In one game-200 yards and ln one sea son-498 yards. Chad also had four touchdowns In one game and 12 In a season to set two more records. Darln Hay set the record for most yards passlng In one game-295 yards and In one season-815 yards. To top It all off he also set the record for most touchdowns In a game-5. All ln all the Pheasants dld a good iob as they moved from eleven-man football to nlne- man football. Besldes settlng records the Pheasants also played In Reglons agalnst Garretson. The Pheasants lost ln a hard fought game. The flnal score was Pheasants 6 and The Blue DTCQOUS 20. The 1985 season had three All-Conference players: Dcrln Hay, Carter Krumbach, Chad Nelson: they also had three Honorable Mentlon All-Conference players: Mark Roth, Jlm Chaney, Gnd Mlke Jolfer. GIRLS BASKETBALL A quick gllmpse ot the 1985 glrls basketball season shows that the glrls had a year of great learning and much growing. This year's team consist- ed ot sixteen glrls, leadlng them were Roger Deutsch and Jlll Christensen as coaches. Ottenslvely Jennlter Plucker was the leader, scoring 11.1 polnts a game and 188 polnts during the year. Stacy Lelnlnger was next averaging 4.1 polnts a game and 77 polnts for the season. The rebounding category was dominated by Rhonda Frlese averaging 6.9 a game and 131 on the season. Plucker also led ln shooting percentage with 381, wlth Linda Merrlll averaging tour assists a game and shooting 571, from the free throw llne. The glrls season ended 0-19, but their success cannot be measured by only wlns or losses. They can measure thelr success In other ways. This season's success can be measured by the time the girls got to play, galnlng valuable experience. Also, this year the girls can agree with the statement, Success is peace ot mind which is a direct result ot selt-satis- tactlon In knowlng you dld your best to become the best that you are capable of becomlng.
