FUTURE HOIVIEMAKERS A gllmpse would tell you the FHA girls were busy wlth an actlve year. National Famlly Week was r6COQnIZed. FHA Week WGS February 9-15 with dlf- terent actlvltles every day. Our fundraiser during the week was the annual Soup Supper. Reading Cham- pions with grades 1-6 helped the FHA bring in S840 tor the March of Dlmes. Krlstln Selby, for her second year, was an active Pep Squad member. At the State Meeting, Rhonda Friese was named to the 1986-97 Pep Squad and our chapter received the Merlt Award. A glimpse of the 1985-86 FFA year started wlth the Ieadershlp camp at Madlson wlth slx members attending. Summer had many judging trips as well as the summer plcnlc at Mr. Fiegen's house. When school started, the Parker FFA hosted the dlstrlct land-judging contest. Then they attended the state contest. The otflcers participated in the conduct of meetings contest at Sloux Falls and placed second. The rest of the Ieadershlp contest was held at Harrisburg with C. Krumbach placing fourth ln extemporary speak- Ing and J. Meyer placing fourth in creed speaking. The frult sales went fast as R. and T. Heibult sold the most. FFA week was celebrated with actlvltles everyday. The week started out with bowling on Sunday and ended on Frlday with a trip to the Royal Fork with the 'parents and then onto to Grand Laboratories in Larchwood, IA for a tour. As spring came, so dld the Llttle International and the state convention which were both held ln Brookings. D. Budde and C. Krumbach received the State Farmer degree and Carter was selected as the first runnerup in the Star Agribusiness competltlon. Donovan placed second in sheep production. The year ended wlth the annual FFA banquet where K. Marsh was selected Star Greenhand, K. Berens Star Greenhand, and the cooking staff at the school Honorary Chapter Farmers. G. Even shows his skllls of flipping pancakes after four years of practice.
