VOLLE YBA LL This year the Lady Pheasants showed their opponents what they were made of A winning season of 9-8 proved that. The credit goes to the excellent coaching of Jill Christensen and Dave Versteeg. More than anything, the girls' hard work and effort made a difference. The over-all setter was senior Le Ann Sturzenbecher with 416 sets out of 455 for the year. The other two seniors were Lisa Dyshorn and Regina Leber who also did well in spiking and digs. After school one could always see Lisa Luke and Lisa Marsh running around washing uniforms and totalling stats. Relax by Frankie goes to Hollywood was played before almost every match to help the girls get ready for action. This year the team came one point away from the State Tour- nament. Unfortunately, the mighty Lady Pheasants couldn 't score that extra point, so in the end they became runner up in the Regions after a grueling match with Gregory. Next year the team will be turnin' it on to victory at the State Tour- nament. WW? . YNX al wi gi fi Mr. Versteeg tells the players what to do. TRA CK ANOTHER TRACK SEASON lt was not just another track season for the Pheasants. lt was a successful year ending it by sending four tracksters to the State meet. The season throughout was good by breaking records at the very first meet. The record breaking didn't stop there though. All season records kept falling and when it was all over, they had broken eight records, the girls set two and the guys set six. The girls broke two records this season. Suzann Bovee broke the high jump record by jumping 4'9 . Delle Zebell set a record in the 3200 m run by running 13:17.00 and her record goes up as the first 3200 m runner in Parker as this was the first year the event was run. Jim Viet had a part in four records this season. Jim broke the 110 m and 300 m hurdles with times of 14.7 and 40.0 respectively. He also participated in two relays. Jim carried home two State champ medals, Ist in the 100 hurdles and placing in the top 3 in the 300 hurdles. Scott Mohr set the high jump record going 6'2 . Scott Andal vaulted 12'3 to capture the pole vault record. Two relays broke records, they were the 400 m relay and 1600 m relay. Both relays consisted of Todd Leininger, Mike Joffer, Scott Mohr, and Jim Viet If you measure the success of the team the way Coach Hagg does, which is by how many records broken and how many kids were sent to the State meet, it was a great season! .. - .
