Oral Interpretation was very strong this year. In fact, sixteen people competed under the direction of Mrs. Hoover. These people competed in the areas of dramatic prose, humorous prose, oratory, poetry, and interpretation of drama. Five people: Michelle Almond, Tricia Duncan, Kim Schnabel, Rita Husman, and Mark Salter competed in district competition. From that group, Michelle Almond advanced to regional competition. Regional competition was held at Augustana College. There Michelle competed against people from schools such as S.F. O'Gorman, S.F. Lincoln, and S.F. Washington. Michelle advanced once more. At Aberdeen, she competed in the stater competition, where she gave her poetry piece entitled Patterns Michelle came away from the state competition with a superior rating and a trophy.
