FHA This year marked the 40th birthday for FHA, and the Parker Chapter helped in celebrating it. National Family Week was in November. Various FHA members gave presentations on families to the elementary classes. FHA got into the spirit of Christmas by doing a variety of different things for Secret Angel Week. FHA Week was celebrated January 10-16. During this week, FHA members attended a SADD meeting, appreciated teachers, decorated lockers and had fun. The Soup Supper was held as FHA's annual fund raiser. Various FHA members attended the Regional FHA meeting to present AAE's. Those that received superior ratings advanced to the State meeting. Hfiv FFA The Parker FFA Chapter continues to grow. This year we went from 18 vo-ag students to 25 vo-ag students. Summer brought FFA camps, judging, softball tournaments, county falr, hamburger fry at Mr. Flegen's house and summer visits. When the school year started, first up was landjudging. Buddy Lukes, Gene Even, and Gene Schaefer earned a trip to the National Land judging contest by placing ln the top eight in the state and taking second overall. Then the leadership contests and the National FFA convention in Kansas Clty, Ms. attended by Pat Stapleton and Scott Andal. Kurt Mielke and Jason Chester were our creed speakers this year. Then came FFA week. We had a weekful of events. Sunday, bowling in Sioux Falls: Monday, rabbit feed at Mr. Fiegen's house: Tuesday, dress up day: Wednesday, farm day in the shop: Thursday, pancake breakfast in the shop: Friday, we took the parents to Sioux Falls for dinner and toured G. T.A. The annual fruit sales were a success with Mike Johnson selling the most with over 5900.00 In the spring came more judging. Morrells' Llttle I and the State Convention were the events. At the convention, Pat Stapleton was named state farmer and three students were given awards for their achievements. The chapter banquet was held in the basement of the Catholic Church and the year ended with a trip to the National land judging contest in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
