Mobile Music provided the entertainment and kept every- one dancing. Throughout parts of the dance, t-shirts were offered to some people who strutted their stuff extremely well. At the door, everyone was given ballots to choose Sweet- heart and Marshall. Towards eleven o'clock, Michelle Novak and Russell Buseman were crowned Sweetheart and Mar- shall respectively. As the night progressed, more and more people got the Irish Fever and danced all they could. And at twelve o'clock, when the dance ended, every- one went to Godfather's to rest their feet and eat pizza. Marshall Russell Buseman and Sweeheart Michelle Novak take a stroll on the dance floor. Jim Chaney decorates for the dance. This year Lady Dracula took the stage. After many early morn- ing practices, the all-school play was presented April 12, 1985. The cast was full of many talented people and it showed. Earlier in the day the play was performed for the grade school who thoroughly en- joyed it. On opening night the elementary gym was packed. Throughout the play, one could hear outbursts of laughter the audience produced. Who could forget Dr. Van Helsing's struggle with Lady Dracula? Under Miss Haisch's direction everything went fine. This year's cast included: Kim - Stacy Lein- Inger, Opal - Amy Chicoine, Robert - Tim Miller, Sonny - Jason Chester, Mrs. Sink - Lisa Whelaen, Luisa - Michelle Almond, Ernie - Vlnce Preheim, Mona - Michelle Headlee, Marcus - Scott Andal, Tod - Evan Friese, Camille Stan- ford - Tricia Duncan, Lady Dracula - Julie Haase, Duffy - Dan Gates, Wallace - Mark Salter, Dr. Laur- ence Finley - Jim Viet, Dr. Van Helsing - Karen Ebeling, Students - Heather Haase and Jeremy Schmidt. Next year's cast will be turnln' on another great play. All-School Play l Lady Dracula has a friendly chat with Duffy. The reason was that there were a few revisions made. For instance, the Jr.-Sr. Banquet was held at the Parkerhouse Steakhouse: a Grand March was held, and instead of a live band the juniors introduced a new sound - Kanaranzi. A lot of work was put into prom. Decorating was started the Monday before prom and finished on Friday. All the juniors pitched in putting up streamers and all the other decorations. The theme of the 1985 Jr.-Sr. Prom was Roman holiday . The colors were metallic red and gold. Streamers decorated the gym, and a special touch was added by putting up Roman columns and pillars. On April ZZ 1985, all the juniors, seniors, and their dates had a very special night at the prom, and afterwards everyone headed over to Sioux Falls for b0WliI1g and breakfast. L. Whealen and E. We had many new faces so some went to a seminar at Sioux Falls College. At the seminar, we learned how to set up pages, the best way to take pictures, and how to produce the best annual possible. To meet our first deadline, we came in on a Saturday morning and worked until we finished. Our second deadline was a bit harder to meet. In order to get the forty-six pages that were due, we came in during parent- teacher conferences and worked all day. When the annual was finished, we kicked back and rested easy. They also used their talents to Hll the halls with posters and provide pep rallies for the high school. At the beginning of the year, a group of girls went to an SDSU Cheerleading Clinic. At this clinic they were shown a new routine, and some cheers and stunts. At the end of the day, they competed in a contest and came away with a Leadership Award. In January, the varsity andjunior varsity squads for boys basketball went to a State Cheerleading Contest in Huron. They performed a routine, and a number of cheers and stunts. The credit goes to the excellent coaching of Jill Christensen and Dave Versteeg. More than anything, the girls' hard work and effort made a difference. The over-all setter was senior Le Ann Sturzenbecher with 416 sets out of 455 for the year. The other two seniors were Lisa Dyshorn and Regina Leber who also did well in spiking and digs. TRA CK ANOTHER TRACK SEASON lt was not just another track season for the Pheasants. lt was a successful year ending it by sending four tracksters to the State meet. The season throughout was good by breaking records at the very first meet. The record breaking didn't stop there though. All season records kept falling and when it was all over, they had broken eight records, the girls set two and the guys set six. The girls broke two records this season. Suzann Bovee broke the high jump record by jumping 4'9 . Delle Zebell set a record in the 3200 m run by running 13:17.00 and her record goes up as the first 3200 m runner in Parker as this was the first year the event was run. Jim Viet had a part in four records this season. Jim broke the 110 m and 300 m hurdles with times of 14.7 and 40.0 respectively. He also participated in two relays. Jim carried home two State champ medals, Ist in the 100 hurdles and placing in the top 3 in the 300 hurdles. Scott Mohr set the high jump record going 6'2 . Scott Andal vaulted 12'3 to capture the pole vault record. Two relays broke records, they were the 400 m relay and 1600 m relay. Both relays consisted of Todd Leininger, Mike Joffer, Scott Mohr, and Jim Viet If you measure the success of the team the way Coach Hagg does, which is by how many records broken and how many kids were sent to the State meet, it was a great season! .. - .
