The Administrative Board Meets Before School Convenes; The School Board is charged with the supervision of the system of public free schools in the county. The duties of the School Board are numerous and include decisions relating to the location and main- tenance of schools, offerings of courses, budgetary problems, and personnel. The Board elects a Superintendent of Schools from a list of eligible persons supplied by the State Department of Edu- cation. The Board employs teachers and other administrative officers for the local school system. Virginia State Chamber of Commerce Mr. A. B. Haga, Division Superintendent of Mecklen- burg County, received his Bachelor of Education degree from Randolph-Macon Col- lege and his Master of Edu- cation degree from the Uni- versity of Virginia. Mr. E. A. Payne, Direc- tor of Instruction for Meck- lenburg County, received his Bachelor of Education degree from Hampden -Sydney Col- lege and his Master of Edu- cation degree from North- western University.
