football Season Opens On September 13, football seasonbegan. This year the football team was composed most- ly of juniors and sophomores. Because of the inexperience of the squad, 1958 was a losing season. Varsity Cheerleaders The cheerleaders of Park View represented the school spirit at all athletic events. They are elected every spring to serve on the squad for the following year. The cheerleaders were sponsored by Mrs. Estelle Lumpkin. In August the cheerleaders began practice for the opening of football sea- son. This year the cheerleaders were: Co- Captains: LaVonne Hinnant, LaVerne Wilmoth. Second row: Joyce Orr, Nell Walker, Dru Warren, Betty Wright. Third row: Carole Holmes, Beverly Dortch, Carolyn Reese, Jean Evans. Junior Varsity Cheerleaders The Junior Varsity Cheerleaders were chosen in the fall of ' 58. They were from the eighth grade and were also sponsored by Mrs. Estelle Lumpkin. They cheered at all Junior Varsity football and basketball games. The Junior Varsity cheerleaders were: Jane Garland, Carolyn Newcomb, Carole Lee, Edith Earl Warren, Patricia Nolen. 18
