K 1 Arnold Library 1 10 East Danville Street South Hill VA 23970 . LEA VES OF MEMOR Y VOLUME ONE Nineteen Hundred Fifty-six The leaves of Memory seemed to make A. . . rustling in the dark. Published by The Senior Class PARK VIEW HIGH SCHOOL South Hill , Virginia Foreword May LEAVES OF MEMORY bring to you happy recollections of the first year of Park View High School. What a wonderful year it has been. May these pages bring to you memories of our school days, the many friendships old and new, the in- spiring help of our teachers, the bustle of our working hours, the rush of changing classes, and the exciting thrill of our many clubs and sports. As you turn the pages, leaf by leaf, may you live again the happy days at Park View High. Dedication The autumn of 1955 brought many of us with divided loyalties together for the first time in a new school. The spring of 1956 finds our hearts no longer divided, but united in love and loyalty to our new school. Many people have helped strengthen the bonds of unity, but to those of us who have the honor of being the first senior class, no other source of strength has been greater than the guiding hands of our senior sponsors. Therefore, we wish to dedicate this, the first annual of ParkView High School, to our three sponsors: Miss Sara Ingram, Mrs. Elizabeth Nichols, and Mrs. Margaret Currin. They have guided and assisted us through our memorable senior year. Throughout the year they have been a constant source of inspiration and encouragement to each of us, and because of their faithful leadership and cooperation it has been possible to complete this annual, a portrayal of our brief but beautiful year here at Park View. Trustees W. S. HUNDLEY, Chairman P.N. WINN W.A. TROTTER R.D. COOK Trustees R.P. GORDAN H.C. BOBBITT J.E. SMITH J. A. ARMISTEAD Mecklenburg County School Board VIRGINIA G. JEFFREYS, Clerk MR. W.H. SEAWALL Director of Instruction MR. CHARLES H. MORGAN Principal The first year of work and play in Park View High School is rapidly coming to a close. The year of 1955-’56 will soon be history- -history which records the good and the bad. The leaves have fallen, and the trees are budding again in a new spring. You Seniors are closing your high school books, and, I hope will soon be turning the leaves in bigger and more exciting books, and walking avenues where the trees are bigger and taller, and that each of you will be prepared for the challenges that certainly lie ahead. I extend to you my sincere thanks and appreciation for your splendid cooperation and helpfulness during the year. May the blessing of Heaven be with each of you in all your honorable endeavors. There were a few boys who had never played football before, but as a whole it didn ' t take the team long to get organized. With the help of Coach Wise there was very good co-ordination. The boys who had never played before fitted in with the rest of the team and made great teammates. As the season progressed, the team was in full swing, losing only three games. These games were with strong opponents. This year there were no individuals bn the team. We played as a team, not as individuals. This is one of the factors that make a good team. We all played together. In joining with the annual staff, we the senior lettermen, wish the future teams of Park View the best of luck.
