Day, left Thursday, September 4, for a five week tour of Greenland, Newfoundland, Iceland and Baffin Island. The tour was sponsored by the United Service Organization. The tour group was composed of six girls, seven men, and conductor-director, Mr. Day. They were Philip McManis, David Maylo ne, Carole O’Brien, Noland Peebles, Stephen Roff, Ellen Severson, Jessie Thompson, Maryann Webster, Beverly Johnson and David Hawley. The Pirates were coached by James Benedek. Other second year members are Sophomore Bonnie Beuth and Junior Rita Gladney. Newcomers are Juniors Barbara Angell and Belinda DeBerry and Freshmen Diane Bradley and Melanie Rowe. Co-ordinator of the cheerleaders was P.E. instructor Mrs. Pat Wilson. The Park College harriers had a disappointing season of nine losses and The Pirate’s lone win came over Calvary Bible College early in the season. Grantland Rice a racing start, a fast anchor, pull to victory a season of success tells the story of the swimming pirates, a season of traveling from victory to victory, a dedicated man coaching a dedicated swimming team. the racket spins the player drops back for a lobbed ball, game—love, a losing season, but a building year, that’s the game. INTRAMURALS 54 Finding myself in a world untouched, I felt the need to wander. probing ... I assumed a million dimensions. I looked for myself in the faces of others while they looked back at me. But now the ache of challenge leaves me still dependent, but wanting escape. I am no longer one but have learned the joy of others . . . Th us it was I am being driven forward into an unknown land. They began the year with an unbelievable effort to put academic endeavors before social events.
