Last year ' s Student Activities Com¬ mittee (SAC) was changed to the Finan¬ cial Committee (FC) at the end of the second semester of the 1967-68 aca¬ demic year, due to the structural change planned for this year in the committee system under the Student Council. The committee not only got a new name, but also adopted a new constitution. The primary purpose of the Financial Com¬ mittee is to allot portions of the total amount of Activity Fees paid by each student to the other sub-committees of the Student Council. SC Social Committee The Social Committee (SC) took over the duties of last year ' s Stu¬ dent Activities Committee (SAC) at the beginning of the 1967-68 aca¬ demic year, also due to the struc¬ tural change planned for this year in the committee system under the Student Council. The Social Com¬ mittee is in charge of providing Big Name Entertainment and allot- ing funds to campus organizations for all-campus functions. The So¬ cial Committee proved its effect¬ iveness by providing never a dull weekend. Featured appearances were made by Bob Kuban and the In Men, the Drifters, Josh White, Jr., and Dick Gregory. On November 18, Bob Kuban and the In Men gave a highly successful dance in Upper Commons. The Drifters, long-time recording stars, were on the Park campus December 16. The second semester featured Josh White, Jr., folk sing¬ er and balladeer, on February 6 and comedian Dick Gregory on March 16. Student attendance at these performances was high, and there is already much anticipation for next year ' s big name entertainers. The Hermits’ pie-throwing booth helps preserve the carnival atmosphere. ' On Saturday, February 24, Upper Com¬ mons was decorated with the paraphernalia of the SUDC Carnival and Auction,, The greatest fund-raising events on Park ' s cam¬ pus, the Carnival and Auction are success¬ ful in proportion to the desire of the stu¬ dent body to improve student facilities. The Carnival boasted thirteen booths, constructed and managed by the various campus organizations. The Auction began at 9:00 p.m. with the auctioneering of Messrs Fogarty and Ampola, two Parkville professionals who donated their services. Bids for the Auction were submitted by students, faculty and staff. The Nickel Steak Dinner, going for $126.00 was one of the items which helped to raise the pro¬ ceeds of the evening to $2192.60. This amount, in turn, boosted the total SUDC fund to nearly $8000.00. Dave Miller and Janet Johnston are SUDC Co-chairmen. Auctioneer Ampola. . . doing his thing.
