Team competition isn't the only type, thoughg there is a great deal of individual competition, too. Stu- dents compete against each other to enter clubs and to some extent to get better grades, but some of the most important competition is within rather than between the students. Musicians compete against themselves for a first NB' YN at regional Solo-Ensemble contest, and then again, if they are lucky or skillful enough, at state contest. Every students competes against himself to better his grades, and every student, whether or not he is in sports or music, competes every forty minutes - in the race with the bell. Mr. Williams and Miss Dooley help John Atcheson QAboveJ and the Madrigal Singers CTop Leftj to prepare for Contest weekend. Miss Panson appraises students' histrionic talents during play auditions QLeft and Above Rightj. Many try out for a place in chorus line of The Boy Friend fLeftJ but only a few are chosen. 21
