VARSITY TENNIS Lett to right: John DeVoe, Steve DeVoe, Ralph Walrod, Richard Mc- Crae, John Esterline. Not shown in picture: Coach John Holzman. f JPX K X Cixi With two returning lettermen and a good group of prospects, the tennis squad is looking forward to its best season. John DeVoe, now number one in the state, and Steve DeVoe, who also ranks very high, fill the number one and number two spots excellently. Lack of experience is the only serious handicap of Ralph Walrod, John Ester- line, and Dick McCrae, who hold the number three, four, and tive spots, alternating in the positions. The squad has a new coach this year, Mr. John Holzman, who has coached several fine teams in Wisconsin. The team is being pushed a little harder than in previous years and has taken on a tough schedule, including Tech, Cathedral, Broad Ripple, and Shortridge.

Seated left to right: Paul Col well, Richard McCrae, John DeVoe David Williams, Lowell Johnston Steve Colwell. f 1? CXO,-TC.f'3l x ign x'3 BASEBI-lll - I9 I Lacking experience, the team lost all of their games. Three of the first stringers were freshman: Dick McCrae, Steve Cline, Reed Moistner. Lowell Johnston, who had been playing second base for the last two years, was not very big, but he was one of the best hitters that Park had. Jerry Slatin, playing in his second year as a starter, covered shortstop. Jerry's specialty was fielding ground balls. Samps McQuiston, a newcomer to Park, played third base. Steve Cline, Tom Kahn and Bill Cooley were throwing from the mound. This was Tom's last year at Park. Tommy, a right hander, gave the opposing batters something to think about. Behind the plate was Steve Colwell, one of the best baseball players Park ever had. The outfielders were Johnny DeVoe, Dave Williams and Paul Colwell.
