THE RED AND BLACK The Red and Black, Park School's newspaper, is directed by Editor-in-chief Jerry Slatin. His staf? consists of Phil Whitesell, Managing Editor, Dick McCrae, Copy Manager, Business Manager Charles Pollock, Feature Editor Reed Moistner, News Editor John Esterline, Sports Editor Samps McQuiston, Steve Cline, Circula- tion Manager, and Mr. Carrico, the Faculty Adviser. Throughout the school year the Red and Black stat? has increased the paper's popularity. Because of the attendance of Jerry Slatin, Phil Whitesell, Dick Mc- Crae, and Charles Pollock at a Press Conference for high school paper managers at Franklin College, the staf? have had an easier job of running our school paper. THE PANTHER The Park School Yearbook was edited by Samps McQuiston, with the help of George Downing and Steve Cline. Since early in January the staf? has been working diligently getting the Panther into its present form. Dr. Johnson has served as Faculty Adviser. THE PROMPTER'S CLUB This year the Prompter's Club produced the play Eleven Against the Sea, which drew a large audi- ence and much applause. With the talented assistance of Mr. Hodson, who painted backgrounds, and Mr. Carrico and Mr. Watkins, co-di- rectors, the play went of? very smoothly. Officers of the club are Dick Travis, president, Charles Pollock, secretary-treasurer. Mr. Carrico is the faculty adviser. VARSITY CLUB The President of the Varsity Club is Jerry Slatin, and the Secretary- Treasurer is Phil Whitesell. The club sponsored an all- school hayride at the beginning of the year and has had charge of all refreshments sold at the athletic contests. Student Council Left to right: Mr. Gene Schwilck Richard McCrae, Jess Pritchett Philip Whitesell, Reed Moistner John Esterline, Edward Hargitt, John DeVoe. , The president of our student council is John De- , Voe, the secretary, Reed Moistner, the treasurer, , Ed. Hargitt, and the corresponding secretary is John Esterline. Mr. GeneSchwilck is their faculty adviser who has made this year's student council the most successful in many years. The services of the council to the school are many. At the beginning of the school year a Pump Handle get-together was arranged for all parents and students. Other duties included daily flag raising, as- sembly program, pep rallies, and a successful drive for attendance at the basketball games. The charities helped were the Salvation Army at Thanksgiving and the Community Chest drive, and 5400 was raised for the Red Cross at the benefit carnival given iointly by Tudor Hall and Park. An- other important activity was the magazine drive, which earned S325 for the school.
