I Af' THOSE WHOM WE CHEER Tl-IE OWLS IN ACTION The 1952 football team experienced a rather dis mal injury riddled season winning but two games in a schedule of nine However the squad and 1tS coach Jim Dualsky in his initial year as head football men tor worked long and hard throughout the season and next year should record excellent results for their ef forts This year as was true in years past the Owl grid ders demonstrated fine sportsmanship graciousness in defeat and humility in victory in spite of the out come of the season For this they gained the respect of victor and vanquished alike in all their contests. 67 THOSE W'E HONOR Each year on the eve of the Thanksgiving day game with Westwood Owl fans gather at the school to give a sendoff to the gridders who will on the follow1ng day carry their school colors on to the field This year was no exception and the cheerleaders twirlers and band were on hand to Cheers songs music and speeches were all part of the exciting rally preceding the lighting of the huge bonfire which became the funeral pyre for W1ll1e Westwood' who was sent to a fiery death 1n a coffin carried by the senior football players There followed a wild snake dance around the bonfire and through town by a group of spirited students hoping for a victory on the morrow 68 l lead the crowd in building spirit for the big game. . . , . . . .
