Snow did not stop successful dance 'Nj t. ,,., we 5 x f , A N' E : f 'V ,wt j , W0 if 22 S x 1?5QQ3Wf-giky , if S ' ..r't 'f F . '1 nl ,-0 XXX Ex sy V9 QR sg Snow, snow and more snow almost postponed Studdest Club's Courtwarming dance. The weeks' special activities were cancelled, but the dance was held after the boys' basketball game on Friday The crowd responded with olaps, cheers and an occasional whistle for their favorite Court- warming attendants when they were introduced at halftime. After a few moments of complete sil- ence while the crowd waited, Kenna Jo Jenkins was finally announced queen. The other senior attendants were Kelly Emery, Sharon Knauss, Crystal Threadgill and Pam Tosti. The junior attendants were Terri Jeffries and Denise Laws and the sophomores were Susan Shaw and Jill Wurzer. During the week the girls did appear at a girls' basketball game and the senior girls' pictures were placed on jars in the cafeteria for voting by the student body. Studdest Club sponsored Courtwarming as its primary project. Carnations were sold in order to raise money for the dance. We were real pleased with Courtwarming. I was ecstatic about the good organization and the involvement of the members, said Mr. Earn- hart, sponsor. Despite the problems with the snow, we wanted to keep the tradition of Courtwarming alive, so it will continue throughout Park l-lill. Hopefully it will become as prominent as Homecoming, said Mark Leggett. Studdest CIub's job was also to support basketball and boys' swimming. The president was AI Miller, vice-president was Mark Leggett and the treasurer was Scott Parrish. couarwmmimcfsruopssr ctue

why 0 W s l Snow is a great diversion, for a while Sunshine reflecting off glistening snow blinds him for a moment, then with a deep breath and one quick push with his poles, he's offg whisking past tall stately pines and dodging twenty-foot drifts. Min- utes pass and he races for the bottom, bends his knees, turns upward into the mountain and stops suddenly, while snow from beneath the wooden slats sprays six feet into the icy mountain air. His knees are shaky, his nose and cheeks are wind-whipped and red, but his face reveals nothing but pleasure. As he heads for the lift again one thought prevails: there's nothing like leaving school behind to ski in the Colorado Rockies. This exuberant skier could have been any one of the ninety-three students and three sponsors who spent a weekend at Winter Park Ski Resort in Colorado this year. We had so much fun, said Lisa Jung, junior. None of us wanted to come home. You can bet that when the trip is offered again, l'll be among the first to sign up. , f, f M , f ,ff ' f 4, , gf ay f ff f 'EX' ., fl X IM JV' iff! , f , , 'ff 1, fflf I , , f ,M f fff-'f Af ,, ,, ,, g,, ff, f f . ,,,, ww, f f f , , ,,W,,..w If , f,,f ,XZ ,V ,ff ,fw fan, vw If-'J l t I l l When the proud bearers of ski pins and patches ,,, i returned, they found they had to tramp through nearly ' as much snow reaching their mailboxes or getting back J to school as they did in Colorado. Nearly two feet of snow blanketed the area in Jan- uary, making it the worst winter in 16 years. Accord- ing to the FARMER'S ALMANAC, heavy snowfall was to be expected.
