Ask anyone enrolled in Algebra ll, where such problems are studied through the use of reasoning and algebraic proofs. As a prerequisite to Algebra ll, there is Alge- bra I, a course which investigates the number system and basic concepts of math. For those having difficulty in this department, General Math offers an extensive study of percentages, ratios, interest, graphing, formulas, area, and volume. In geometry classes each student can work with space relations, angles, and planes. An ad- vanced course that is more or less on the college level is Senior Math. This class is open only to seniors and gives instruction in such things as logic, limits, sequences, and analytic geometry.

The Science Department offers courses in Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, and Biology. Each course is designed so as to give both lab and classroom instruction. The physical sciences deal with fundamental concepts needed for inves- tigation, identification, and interpretation of mat- ter and energy. Also, force and energy, heat, elec- tricity, light, sound and nuclear energy, and laws of motion are studied. Chemistry is primarily a laboratory course dealing with equations, the- ories, base-acid relationships, and gas laws. If one wishes to acquire a better understanding of surrounding land forms, Earth Science is the class to take. This class also offers beginners instruction in astronomy and meteorology. Our Bi- ology Class, through the use of the microscope and other equipment, studies microscopic ani- mals, the plant and animal kingdoms, and their effect on life. This year, a new course has been added to the Science Division called Biology ll. This is an advanced course where students work in groups or individually to study body structures and participate in mammal dissection. , lf -4
