Exfmeu qamaelf The Language Arts Depart- ment aims at teaching the stu- dent reading and writing skills that he can benefit from through- out his life. Novels, short stories, poems, plays, and essays are studied and analyzed. Writing experience is gained by writing in-class assignments in which the student learns to express his thoughts and opinions more freely. Different branches of this de- partment give pupils a chance to further develop their talents. The speech and debate courses emphasize public speaking and participation in tournaments, while the student grows in self- confidence. Acting experience and various techniques are pro- vided in the dramatics courses, which also sponsor school plays and some assembly skits. There are credit courses in annual and journalism for those interested in writing and publications work.
