Jones Superintendent l congratulate the Seniors of '66 for their achieve- ment and wish them every success as they move on to higher goals. l believe our youth have the fine quali- ties that will enable them to respond to the present emergency for increase in both excellence and quality in learning. If the future requires greater competence on the part of adults, and I believe it will, our faith is firm in the children of today who have the capabilities and willing- ness to achieve added skills and knowledge to meet the demands of an ever-changing and advancing world. My sincere best wishes go with each student in the Class of '66, Also, at this time I wish to commend the faculty and all students at Park Hill Senior High for a fine year. You can well be proud of your efforts to maintain the high standards at our school. Russell C. J ones Through The Wisdom Park Hill Senior High has provided you, the student, an opportunity to develop basic capabilities so that you will have it in your power to magnify yourself and to multiply the ways in which you exist. If the opportunities provided have been meaningful, you will have a secure developmental base from which to operate as you move out into a world of continuing chal- lenge. Each of you will have an accumulated reserve of experiences that should carry you courageously into new and stimulating ventures. You will have learned to know yourself and, hopefully, to have gained the understanding that life takes strength--not just physical stamina, but strength based on faith. Thus, as this inward strength becomes a part of you, a sense of wonder will enable you to grow to a level of power and wisdom you have never before known. It is my wish that you, being wiser and filled with wonder, will continue to search for the eternal truths and always accept your place in Godls world. Oscar F. Mussman Mrs. Thelma Battmer Mrs. Betty Peterson Secretary to the Principal Office Secretary LQfe is but a shadow, a poor player who struts and frets his hour upon the' stage, and then is heard no more. The immortal Shakespeare described the fleeting pas- sage of life in these words. He would indicate to us that once life has slipped beyond the apron of its stage we must have left a mark to be remembered by. High School days are over for the Class of l66 and days are becoming fewer for the underclasses, yet there remains all of the play except the opening scene. My hope is that your days of rehearsal at Park Hill have given you the composure to meet your audience with confidence, that you may be able to meet the challenge of yearst and wipe away the tears, and when the final encore has been made and the applause has become only a memory that you will still be able to manage one more smile, one more wink, and one more hint of a gleam in your eye as you think back upon your years at Park Hill. American Field Service--the world's most successful peace program. How true this is, for what other organization could arrange for peaceful co-existence between so many nations, as is done in countless chap- ters of A.F.S. across the United States. I feel immensely proud and grateful to be a part of such an or- ganization, to be a small cog in a machine which is getting bigger and bigger every year. It may be some time until the true success of our program can be seen--that is, until the students of today's generation become the leaders of tomorrow--because only then will the people who govern our countries, ourselves, have a true and first-hand understanding of other nations, which we are at this time gaining through the American Field Service and its 3,000 foreign students. I sometimes wonder whether the world would be in the mess it is today, if such people as lVIaO Tse-tung, Charles De Gaulle, Lyndon John- son, and Alexei Kosygin had been foreign students in their youth. I doubt it. - When I leave to go back home in just a short time, I will be very sad. When I left Australia to come to the United States, I knew that I would be returning in a years' time, and so I wasn't too sad about leaving my family and friends. But when I leave the United States, I know that I will never see again many people with whom I've made firm friendships and become very fond of. This is one of the sad aspects of being a foreign student, but no matter how bad it may seem at the time, I know I'll have many, many memories to keep me thinking about my year in the U.S., and more importantly, Park Hill. The people here have been so kind, thoughtful, generous and friendly that my impression of America and Ameri- cans has been boosted IO0W,. You have the richest nation in the world, and what is more, you are willing to share it with others. Thank you for sharing it with me. I know I can never repay you, and I just hope that when you think about Australia in the future, you can think of more than kangaroos. Come down under and visit me sometime. Brian fPouchJ Neville k ri in to for ide bu no Ar an WE ga Ar pe ca Q! 2 WS! 5 Ii otf Although a year is a short time, l have gained knowledge of many things that l could not have found in any text-book, dictionary, or encyclopedia. The experience at Park Hill is beyond my ability to describe. l can only say that l wish many more foreign youngsters could come here to share their ideas and experiences. My teachers and many other people have kept me busy. Yes, this has been a busy year for me, but it is not honest to say that l have not enjoyed my stay in America. l share my happy times, sorrowful hours, and love with my American friends. ln spite of the dissimilarities existing between our ways of life, l find that we have the same desire--to gain more understanding of one another. l know l did not come to a perfect nation, yet l find it friendly here, and l like it here especially my American friends. America is a nice country, butl have so many feelings for my motherland and my own people that it is difficult for me not to miss them. When l go back to my country, l shall try my best to give my people a better understandinv of Amerl ca in the hope that it will bring us to a closer relationship and to everlasting peace. ?i'5fS'i 151 X - as Q.
