SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Jack Godward, Treasurerg Kay Holland, Secre- tary Dave Melin, Vice President: Dave Gibson, President. Four short years ago, many frightened students first entered into the ranks of Park County High School Students. Nothing could possibly have seemed larger or more confusing than this great building, and, oh, the horrible things that took place the first weekl We freshmen were known as the freaks of the school, and lived up to our title by the garbs inflicted upon us by the bosses of the school. After one week of hilarious initiation, skits, and hard labor at the hands of older students, all wounds were healed by a get-acquainted mixer that resulted in new friendships. Our first year in Park was quite uneventful, but we proved tops in scholastics, and we rapidly dis- covered the evils and worries of semester tests and the fun and fancy of games, dances, picnics, and all the other things that smooth over the rough spots of work. We entered our sophomore year with a feeling of superiority over the freshmen, but we were still humbled by our elders. Ten of our members were honored as the highest of the class by being given the A, L. Brown Awards, and the first group of Honor Society members were chosen. As a class, we began to be better organized and we looked forward to our chores for next year. And what a year our junior year turned out to bel We had stars all over the place - on the various sports teams and in our cheerleader squads. The Boys' and Girls' State delegates were elected. Our Junior play, Me1ody J ones, was a big success and enabled our treasurer to cope with the needs of the Junior Prom. A South Sea Island was our exotic theme. There were tree trunks covered with crepe paper, palm leaves concocted from coat hangers and more paper, monkeys, cocoanuts, a dream yacht, straw hut, and star studded sky. Now we were the high and exalted seniors, lords of the school. All through the years our classmates had participated in music festivals, science fairs, speech contests, concerts, and many other group ac- tivities. High School Week was introduced to some as juniors and others as seniors. During this year we produced a comical and well-liked play entitled, Professor, How Could You? which literally tore the house down with laughter. We elected our last class officers: Dave Gibson, President: Dave Melin, Vice Presidentg Kaye Holland, Secretary, and Jack Godward, Treasurer. The student body leaders were: Fred Terwilliger, President, Dick Chaney, Vice Presidentg Bob White, Filing Secretary: and Marilyn Miller, Treasurer, We, of course, had many honor students and a lot of scholarships awarded. Our valedictorian, Bar- bara Haas, and our salutatorian, Sandra Orr, were announced, and senior activities began. We were the first class to ride through the Park on Greyhounds, and it turned out to be a marvelous skip day to be treasured by all. This took place May 22. A lot of fuss and bother went into producing the effect of a well dressed class the next day. Baccalaureate exercises took place Sunday and all seri- ousness began. The sermon was given by Reverend Robert L. Dunn. Then, the grand finale, Com- mencement! Wishing for three years to be forever rid of tests, we would now see our dreams come true. But maybe it wou1dn't be quite so easy as it seems? What about all our friends, teachers, and even class- rooms? Well, maybe you're not sentimental, but all of these will be missed.
