SOPHOM ORE CLASS HISTORY Linda Eyerly, President, Kitty Gleason, Treasurer, Judy Downer, Secretaryg Larry Downer, Vice President, This year, we as a sophomore class, find ourselves playing an important role in the activities of Park High, filling more places of leadership and responsibility, and making accomplishments in various fields. Those selected from our home rooms to represent us in the student council were Jim Allen, Barry Davis, Carol Haas, Martha Painter, Sandra Parriott, and Gail Turner, Home room chairmen were Bill Bouchee, Larry Downer, Lana Heckman, Mitch Miller, Karen Stein and Jo Ann Ulrich. A, L, Brown Awards were presented to Jim Allen, Carol Miles, Jay Winship, Phyllis Lindgren, Karen Stein, Jim Anderson, Barry Davis, Carol Haas, Bruce Whithorn, and Kay Browning, Mike Forney entered the district speech contest and placed first with humorous declamation. Science fair entries were made by Jim Allen, Carol Miles, and Bruce Robson, The other eight girls elected into TNT were Lana Heckman, Denise McConnell, Sharon McGee, Claudia Miller, Myrtle Olson, Karen Stein, Gail Turner, and Sharon Wilkinson. In F. F, A. Roger Ellison was class winner of the public speaking contest and Darryl Busby placed third in state livestock judging, These F. H, A. girls were given their junior degrees: Deane Belle Cowan, Linda Eyerly, Kitty Gleason, Sonja Harris, Joyce Jones, Judy Kratovil, Phyllis Lindgren, Arlene McMains, Carol Miles, Norma Ommundsen, and Judy Pearson, Carol Haas and Myrtle Olson were two of the B squad cheerleaders for the past year, and Dorothy Edwards, Sandy Parriott, Gail Turner, and Jo Anne Ulrich were chosen to be four of the five A squad cheerleaders for next year, In the field of athletics top honors were given to these boys who received major letters: Bernard Allen, Bob Betley, Bill Bouchee, Larry Downer, Paul Ricci, and Ed Sumner. These were some of the accomplishments of the sophomore class for the past year but the list is not nearly complete for each person has, in his own way, made some gains in our second year of high school, Lana Heckman, 22
