Early in the year our class officers were elected, Billy Vicars was elected president, Jerry Short, vice president, Ellinor Boganes, secretary: and Sharon Graves, treasurer, The freshman class was well represented in athletics by Billy Kemp, Ray Kastelitz, John Betz, Rod- ney Churchwell, Albert Sarisky, Jerry Short, Herb Beadle, and Taylor Lewis, plus many other wonderful athletes too numerous to mention. To cheer our boys on to victory, there were the B squad cheerleaders, our Lucy McNamee was one of them, Sandy Hager was the alternate, Among the scientists in P, C. H. S., the freshman class brought forth David Stein, first place win- ner in physical sciences in Montana, also Harold Hunter secured an honorable mention, and many others who participated in the District Science Fair, The freshmen in band were: Rodney Churchwell, Dennis Crane, Harlan Durgan, Karen Dutt, Gary Hackman, Jack Evans, Star Quisel, John Tedrick, Doug Griffith, Dickie Franks, Gretchen, Lueck, Rob- ert Pantzer, Caroline Nelson, Jerry Short, David Hillard, and Peggy Kicker. Our student council members, Gary Fish, Timi Carlson, Dan Rickett, Nancy Parriott, Bob Means, Bruce Smith, Gary Bar- tholomew, and Myrna Eyerly, also took a hand in running the school. We started the year out with a bang and presented the play, Second Childhood, It was difficult to select the Girls' and Boys' State delegates and alternates from such a large eligible group. The final choice for the girl delegates were: Elaine White, Sandy Broadbent, Key Manzari, and Timi Carlson: alternates were: Myrna Eyerly, Betty Hunter, Emma Jean Bickle, and Anita Bouchee. The boy delegates were: Richard Nelson, Gary Bartholomew, Gary Fish, Dan Rickett, Jack Dunn, and Bruce Smith: alternates were: Richard Rongstad, Larry Dunlap, George Venable, Phil Wanek, Jerry O'Hair, and Ed Smith. Betty Hunter was selected by the girls to represent them in the Vaughn Ragsdale Fashion Board, On May 4, the Junior Prom was held in honor of the seniors, The gym looked like a Japanese Tea Garden with a small boy and girl passing out programs. Myrna Eyerly and Bob Means entered the district speech contest at Dillion, Bob placed first with serious declamation, and Myrna placed fourth with original oratory: she also placed third in the state speech contest at Missoula, Eleven major letters went to junior boys this year, These athletic awards went to Harold Gilkey, Ronnie Rang, Bill Bauer, Ron Haugan, Henry Hansen, Dick West, Ken Kastelitz, Bob Vandervort, and Buddy Johnson. Buddy Johnson also participated in the State Track Meet in Missoula. Dan Rickett also boosted the esteem of the junior class by winning the Odd Fellows Citizenship Award, Aldonna Walbom was elected as one of the five A squad cheerleaders, The annual TNT election was held, and the nine junior girls admitted to the ranks were: Betty Hunter, Elaine white, Marjorie Bishop, Joyce Swainson, Juanita Miller, Lois Jones, Elaine Pulis, Lo- Retta Tudor, and Aldonna Walborn. The junior class pitched in to decorate for the senior commencement and baccalaureate, On these nights the gym and auditorium were decorated with purple lilacs, white apple blossoms, and multi- colored tulips. Though a few names stand out, we must remember that it took the wholehearted cooperation of every member of the class to successfully carry out the traditional junior activities and make this a year which each of us will always remember, Myrna Eyerly NANCY ADKINS MARGIE ALTIMUS BOB ANGLE BOB ARMSTRONG GARY BARTHOLOMEW IOE BARTLETTE BILL BAUER BILL BELIDWS DONNA BEVIN EMMA BICKLE MARGIE BISHOP EDWARD BLOME ANITA BOUCHEE GWEN BRADLEY SANDRA BROADBENT 1 SHARON BROADWATER LINDA BURNETT DIANNE BUTZ TIMI CARLSON GLORIA CLEMENT DORIS COBB ANNETTE CONLIN ANNALEE COUNTS BARBARA COUNTS JOHN CRIGER IVA DAGEN LOU ANN DEAN DICK DEPUY RONNIE DEYOUNG IUANITA DOUG LAS LARRY DUNLAP JACK DUNN BARBARA EDWARDS MYRNA EYERLY GARY FISH KAY FOOTER GRANT GIBSON HAROLD GILKEY DAVID GILLESPIE ELVIN GILLIAM JAMES GOLIGOSKI BOB GOLLMYER CATHHIINE GOULD ROGER GRAHAM DWAIN HACKMAN your' swf HY-if MIT 5f,l i K 1 Q 1 J' E JUDY HAGER HENRY HANSEN JUDY HARMON BONNIE HARRIS RONNIE HAUGAN JERRY HENDERSON THELMA HETHERINGTON JOE HOFFMAN KATHLEEN HOFFMAN ROBERT HOLZWARTH CAROL HOWARD BETTY LOU HUNTER BUDDY JOHNSON GOLDIE KAMPS KEN KASTELITZ. Four short years ago, many frightened students first entered into the ranks of Park County High School Students. Nothing could possibly have seemed larger or more confusing than this great building, and, oh, the horrible things that took place the first weekl We freshmen were known as the freaks of the school, and lived up to our title by the garbs inflicted upon us by the bosses of the school. After one week of hilarious initiation, skits, and hard labor at the hands of older students, all wounds were healed by a get-acquainted mixer that resulted in new friendships. Our first year in Park was quite uneventful, but we proved tops in scholastics, and we rapidly dis- covered the evils and worries of semester tests and the fun and fancy of games, dances, picnics, and all the other things that smooth over the rough spots of work. We entered our sophomore year with a feeling of superiority over the freshmen, but we were still humbled by our elders. Ten of our members were honored as the highest of the class by being given the A, L. Brown Awards, and the first group of Honor Society members were chosen. As a class, we began to be better organized and we looked forward to our chores for next year. And what a year our junior year turned out to bel We had stars all over the place - on the various sports teams and in our cheerleader squads. The Boys' and Girls' State delegates were elected. Our Junior play, Me1ody J ones, was a big success and enabled our treasurer to cope with the needs of the Junior Prom. A South Sea Island was our exotic theme. There were tree trunks covered with crepe paper, palm leaves concocted from coat hangers and more paper, monkeys, cocoanuts, a dream yacht, straw hut, and star studded sky. Now we were the high and exalted seniors, lords of the school. All through the years our classmates had participated in music festivals, science fairs, speech contests, concerts, and many other group ac- tivities. High School Week was introduced to some as juniors and others as seniors. During this year we produced a comical and well-liked play entitled, Professor, How Could You? which literally tore the house down with laughter. We elected our last class officers: Dave Gibson, President: Dave Melin, Vice Presidentg Kaye Holland, Secretary, and Jack Godward, Treasurer. The student body leaders were: Fred Terwilliger, President, Dick Chaney, Vice Presidentg Bob White, Filing Secretary: and Marilyn Miller, Treasurer, We, of course, had many honor students and a lot of scholarships awarded. Our valedictorian, Bar- bara Haas, and our salutatorian, Sandra Orr, were announced, and senior activities began. We were the first class to ride through the Park on Greyhounds, and it turned out to be a marvelous skip day to be treasured by all. This took place May 22. A lot of fuss and bother went into producing the effect of a well dressed class the next day. Baccalaureate exercises took place Sunday and all seri- ousness began. The sermon was given by Reverend Robert L. Dunn. Then, the grand finale, Com- mencement! Wishing for three years to be forever rid of tests, we would now see our dreams come true. But maybe it wou1dn't be quite so easy as it seems? What about all our friends, teachers, and even class- rooms? Well, maybe you're not sentimental, but all of these will be missed.
