Jail and Bail grabs two staff “Jail and Bail” is a fundraising activity of the American Cancer Society that took place right before Thanksgiving break. A squad car appeared at school to haul away Coach Barnes and Mr. Marvin Douglas. Other students were booked into jail when they arrived at Brookdale. A third staff member, Coach Thompson, eluded the police and so was never jailed. Charges leading to the arrest of each individual were read to them by the judge. Next they had to put on prison stripes. Then the officers took “mug” shots of them with identification numbers. Their hardest task was raising money to be set free. Students were given lesser amounts to raise than jailed adults. 1. Jeff Tatur, Steve Brunn and Mike Benson try to raise money to get Coach Barnes out of jail. 2. Jill Purdes and Fred Cheng smile at mug shots taken by Brooklyn Park officers. 3. Bonnie Davis contemplates whether or not she can raise the $40 to bail herself out of jail. 24 Jail and Bail
