Vo-Tech: Education Some students at Pork Center feel they need something more than reg-ulor high school classes to prepare themselves for o brighter furore These students ore lucky to hove various additional educational programs such as the vocational school (Vo-Tech). This program helps students get his her future plan together by getting them into the proper dosses. Some of the dosses offered ore auto mechanics, commercial greenhouse, crop production, audio visual etc Auto mechanics helps students better understand fully about their car, the ports, ond the mechanisms that work within it. Commercial green house crop production helps students understand plants, what the particular plants needs ore etc. Audio visual is a course that is specifically designed to help o student learn to use T.V. cameras ond audio visual equipment Vo-Tech has many courses that are offered ond students consider themselves lucky to be approached with the idea of going to vo-tech. Junior Achievement- Working For Big Goals Junior Achievement is very beneficial ond is o nonprofir. business edu-corioool progrom for sophomores, juniors. ond seniors, in which, teenagers operate their own small businesses from coperofczarion to fcqusdotion during rhe course of o school term. They select their own officers, select produce ond marker a product or service; keep records ond fcquxJare their company with o report to stockholders. JA is specifically designed to teach high school students rhe basic skills to operate o business. Srudenrs from various schools (Pork Center. Greek. Cooper. Woyzato. Edsno, and Osseo) go to JA meetings once a week on Tuesdoy nights. They immediorely get to work on rhe projects of their choice The srudenrs make projects such as pscrure buttons, condles, etc. They form a diversified company with 28 different products which produced $9,954 in soles. The Minneapolis soles overage amounted to $1,421 ond rhe nanonol soles overage is estimated or $900, The yudenrs generated an after tax profit of $127 on $100 of interested capital. But, afrer the curtain was lowered, the lights came up and it was over for the audience. However, for the cast, it lives on, never ro die into forgotten memoies. Joe Breuske, who ployed main chor-ocrer Billy Bigelow, stores that Being around wonderful people rhar all hove the some interest that you do, of striving for one goal; ro put on o good production,” wos whor he liked besr obour being in the musical. Gregg Hensel who ployed the port of Jugger stares rhar rhere wos o feeling of family there, al working toward rhor one special goal. For olmosr 3 months we worked our buns off day after day rowords the goal of being the best Over 100 people giving it ofl waiting for their rime in the Sghrs. The female lead, Julie Jordon, was ployed by Sue Lhordka who felt rhar a btg highlight” for her wos when I would walk off from bockstoge end see reors in the eyes of the audience. It shows whor kind of power rhe show hod. Korhy Anderson who ployed rhe port of Carrie Snow said her favorite thing was rhe opportunity ro be somebody else; it's like living someone e e's life for a few weeks. The performances themselves were quire involved bur by far rhe most emotional point ond rhe climax of Carousel wos closing night It’s rhe end of on experience you normally would never hove hod. As Korhy Anderson puts it I've never hod nine kids before. In o powerfully dynamic manner, Gregg Hensel summarizes rhe final performance You become caught up in rhe musical, you live rhe musical for rhe entire rime Ir becomes an Imporronr port of you and then suddenly almosr viciously ir's over and there's nothing left ro grab on ro.
