- ..... i 'S T- . j .. ■. 11= ■ ] turn mwmw ■ ace FOREWORD These Four Years As I sit here, on the verge of tears, I wonder where they've gone, these last four years. Freshmen so green, without any grit. Awkward, timid, and having no wit. Now Sophomore, not resting, and wishing so much. To be one grade higher, thinking it great to be such. Then we were Juniors, behaving like, WELL, And trying so hard our studies to quell. At last we have nearly accomplished our goal. For which we have struggled until we feel old. When graduation is over, we'll still say with tears, Where have they gone, these last four years? Donald S. Powell ALMA MATER Our strong band can ne'er be broken Formed in Parishville High Far surpassing wealth unspoken Sealed by friendship's tie. Alma Mater, Alma Mater, Deep graven on each heart. Shall be found unwavering true When we from life shall part. High school life at best is passing Gliding swiftly by. We shall pledge in word and deed Our love for Parishville High. Alma Mater, Alma Mater, Deep graven on each heart. Shall be found unwavering true When we from life shall part. DEDICATION To Mr. William Lenny, teacher class advisor and friend, whose kindly guidance and keen wisdom have helped to unify our class, whose genuineness and sincerity have influenced each individual member, and whose fair-minded- ness and whole-hearted loyalty are an inspiration to all, we, the Class of 1963, respectfully dedicate this book. SUPERVISING PRINCIPAL PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE It is with great pleasure I extend congratulations to the Seniors of the Parishville-Hopkiton Central School. One of the most important steps in your life has been completed and you should be justly proud of your accomplishment. The needs of young people in modern America are surely moving toward the inclusion not merely of their own world but of outer space as well. Tomorrow is in your hands, and the world is depending on you to do your share. I am sure your mark in society will be a commendable one. My heartiest wishes to all on your graduation and for your continued success. • Curtis R. CLASS HISTORY When the class of 1963 started out in Kindergarten, there was little more than half the class we have now. Our class consisted of Willy Woodard, Lorraine Castle, Diane Nelson, Marilyn Chevier, Pam Campbell, Franklin Robinson, Gardner Brown, Willard Deere, Jerry Ramsey, Roland LaPage, Bernard Smith, Roy Caringi, Alan Wilson, Evan Harper, Stephen Gary, Sue Sampler, Judy Moses, Verona Simonds, Barbara Fuller, Janice Newtown, Linda Ellis, Lola Lee Arm- strong, Janette Castle, and Casmira Eugene. Of this group the ones that were still with us in the seventh grade were Linda Ellis, Lola Lee Armstrong, Diane Nelson, Marilyn Chevier, Pamela Campbell, Willard Deere, Jerry Ramsey, Bernard Smith, Alan Wilson, Evan Harper, Sue Sampler, Judy Moses, Verona Simonds and Barbara Fuller. Naturally a few more joined our class during our elementary years. They were Danny Vallance, Jean Burlingame, Tommy Peacock, Katherine Thompson, Joann Tuper, Phil Phippen, Robert Phippen, Ronnie Crump, Melvin Sweeny, Joe Snell, Billy Meashaw, Mike Richeal, Joan Thaler, Gaile Raymo, Neva Phillips, Oliver Peary, Nancy Wilson, Tommy Matthews, Judy Wilson, Billy Reed, Margaret Mott, Joan Pearl and Louise DeCarr. Joining us in seventh grade were Rose Perry, Bonnie Burgess, Dona Planty, Lucille Snickles, Donna Phelix, Roger Frary, Donald Powell, Robert Dougan, Dale Burnett, Tommy Unz, and Darryle Grant from Hopkinton. Members who left our class: Linda Ellis Curry, Lola Lee Armstrong La- Londe, Willard Deere, Judy Moses Strader, Barbara Fuller, Jean Burlingame Hanson, Betty Curry Smith, Tommy Peacock, Neva Phillips, Oliver Peary, Nancy Wilson, Tommy Matthews, Iva Overman, Margaret Mott, Dona Phelix, Tommy Unz. Jerry Hayes joined our class in our Sophmore year. We have had many projects to help us reach the goal of going to New York, here were the Junior Jamboree and the Senior-Junior Prom. At the beginning of our Junior year we received our class rings which was a big thrill to all of us. Now that we have completed our high school course we wish to say that we've enjoyed all these four years and are looking forward to our New York Trip, our graduation, and future years. TO SENIORS FIGURE OUT THE REAL YOU The biggest mystery of most people is themselves. But it is not an unsolved mystery. Knowing oneself is mainly a matter of sharpening the focus on the picture one already has. We know that all people are different. They do not like the same things; they cannot do the same things equally well. On the other hand, most people can do most things well enough to make a living at them. The trick is to sort out the things you like and can do well and try to find work that requires just such things. Or you can sort out the things you don't like and Can't do well and avoid work required just such Now that you have reached the first big plateau in your search for knowledge I sincerely encourage you to continue on in the learning pro- cess. This will enable you to establish priorities in your life and aid you in deciding what you have to do to make your life really count. When you complete your high school career do not complete your education. Even if you do not continue your formal education, continue your education in every way available to you, and they are many and varied. Try to improve the abilities and skills you have, read widely and regularly, engage in conversation with people of various interests and occupations. All these things and many others can increase immensely your satisfaction and enjoyment of life. For only by understanding the world around you can you hope to enjoy it. In an analysis of 10, 000 people, only 3 out of every 100 were found to have a definite aim in life. 95% were drifters. However, nearly all who were successful had had a definite aim in life while young, and had made every effort to achieve it. Success comes to those who are willing to work for it. Opportunities are unlimited for the individual who has the desire to move ahead, to always improve. May the years ahead hold only the best for each of you. Education is the means by which our cultural heritage is transmitted and improved from generation to generation. The degree by which it will improve depends greatly on your individual goals and aspirations as graduates of Parishville Hopkinton Central School and as citizens of this country. In the future each of you will reflect the formal training you have had here and I am sure you will make us proud. Best wishes in the years ahead. things. ROW ONE: L. WELLS, F. STUDENT COUNCIL President Bernard Smith Vice-President Darryle Grant Secretary Mary Richardson Advisor Mr. Lenney After a most exciting two week's campaign of posters and speeches, Bernard Smith and Darryle Grant, were elected by a very close margin for two important positions in our active Student Council. As a judiciary body, the Student Council has the power to try minor cases of student infractions of rules. This will help to improve our school. Included in this years program were trips to Potsdam and Massena. The Student Council also made up a hand book that will be used in coming years. For the first time the council plans on ordering pins for each member who holds an office. The activities which were held during the year were the selling of saving stamps and the planning of the Halloween Party. The members are also planning a Slave Day. The first and last Friday of every month is dress-up day. Patroling the halls through out the day is one of our duties; each member is assigned to different places at a certain time. We hope that these things which the members of the Student Council work so hard to accomplish will help our school in every way. ROW ONE: D. Powell, P. Phippen, D. Conklin, D. Macy, F, Kingsley, B.
