HISTORY THE CLASS OF I959 The present class of 1959 began its long journey in 1946. Of the twenty- five graduating students, eighteen began school in the Parishville - Hopkinton School District. Nancy Nurney, Reginald Barrett, Heidi Foster, Anita Bump, Duane Smith, James Young, and Dean Wilson began in the Parishville Schoolg Alden Durant, Jean Davis, and Barbara Greene began in the Cappell Street Schoolg Patricia Wright, Shirley Conklin, Varick Chittenden, Janet Sochia, Ronald Baldwin, and Donald Bald- win began in the Hopkinton Schdog Gary Snell and Paul Strader began at Parish- ville Center. Connie Shatraw joined us in the second grade, Patrick Snell in the sixth grade, Philip Priest in the eighth grade, Beverly Raymo Wilson in the ninth grade, Richard Arquette in the tenth grade and Evelyn Hall joined us in our senior year making our class complete. Members who have left our class since seventh grade are: Lila Frank, Ellen Peacock, David Converse, Sandra Stacy Dyke, David Russell, Barbara Smith, Lorraine Laggue, Judy Vilnave, Lorraine Tebo, Sandra Tebo, Louise Frank, Clorise Boulds, Shirley Clough, Dorothy Abel, Ronald Gilbert, Donald Butterfield, Larry Snickles, Dustin Perry, Elbridge Randall, Kenneth Planty, Gary Sampier, Rodney Holcomb, Garland Dishaw, Gilbert Kwas- ney, Ronald Peck, Thomas Flanagan, Dav- id Burnett, Dale Sochia, Donald Curry, Vincent LaClair, Fay Gribble, Lois Ar- quette, Mary Lazore, Virginia Brooks Evelyn Hall, Laurel LaClair, David Cun--' ningham, and Kenneth Smith. Our class has participated in many varied activities. In the seventh grade we sold School Daze booklets and collected short pencils and sent them to needy foreign children. We published a seventh grade yearbook entitled The Maroon Echo with the assistance of Mr. Garbreana. In the eighth grade we sold Parish- ville emblems. In June, our Eighth Grade Graduation was a big success under the leadership of Mrs. Flora Miller. Several girls wrote up our own graduation song to the tune of School Days. We chose our class motto: It's nice to be im- portant, but it's more important to be nice. We selected our class colors - blue and white. - In the ninth grade we sponsored a Snow Dance in January. In the tenth grade we had two dances and put on an F.F.A. Banquet. In May we ordered our class rings. In September of our Junior year there was a Student Council Campaign. Varick Chittenden came out as President over the Senior candidate. In October we received our class rings. We held two dances, sold all-occasion cards, and spon- sored a big Junior Jamboree that was very successful. We helped the Senior Class with the Junior - Senior Prom. The first Senior activity of 1958 was our magazine campaign. Patricia Wright sold the most magazines and won a trophy. We sponsored a banquet for the Sylvan Falls Club in October and have had several dances. We received our name cards and ordered graduation announcements. We have completed our New York Trip Plans and as the year- book goes to press, we Seniors will be on our way to the big city I Senior Homeroom
