Connie Shatraw joined us in the second grade, Patrick Snell in the sixth grade, Philip Priest in the eighth grade, Beverly Raymo Wilson in the ninth grade, Richard Arquette in the tenth grade and Evelyn Hall joined us in our senior year making our class complete. Members who have left our class since seventh grade are: Lila Frank, Ellen Peacock, David Converse, Sandra Stacy Dyke, David Russell, Barbara Smith, Lorraine Laggue, Judy Vilnave, Lorraine Tebo, Sandra Tebo, Louise Frank, Clorise Boulds, Shirley Clough, Dorothy Abel, Ronald Gilbert, Donald Butterfield, Larry Snickles, Dustin Perry, Elbridge Randall, Kenneth Planty, Gary Sampier, Rodney Holcomb, Garland Dishaw, Gilbert Kwas- ney, Ronald Peck, Thomas Flanagan, Dav- id Burnett, Dale Sochia, Donald Curry, Vincent LaClair, Fay Gribble, Lois Ar- quette, Mary Lazore, Virginia Brooks Evelyn Hall, Laurel LaClair, David Cun--' ningham, and Kenneth Smith. Our class has participated in many varied activities. In the seventh grade we sold School Daze booklets and collected short pencils and sent them to needy foreign children. We published a seventh grade yearbook entitled The Maroon Echo with the assistance of Mr. Garbreana. In the eighth grade we sold Parish- ville emblems. In June, our Eighth Grade Graduation was a big success under the leadership of Mrs. Flora Miller. Several girls wrote up our own graduation song to the tune of School Days. We chose our class motto: It's nice to be im- portant, but it's more important to be nice. We selected our class colors - blue and white. - In the ninth grade we sponsored a Snow Dance in January. In the tenth grade we had two dances and put on an F.F.A. Banquet. In May we ordered our class rings. In September of our Junior year there was a Student Council Campaign. Varick Chittenden came out as President over the Senior candidate. In October we received our class rings. We held two dances, sold all-occasion cards, and spon- sored a big Junior Jamboree that was very successful. We helped the Senior Class with the Junior - Senior Prom. The first Senior activity of 1958 was our magazine campaign. Patricia Wright sold the most magazines and won a trophy. We sponsored a banquet for the Sylvan Falls Club in October and have had several dances. We received our name cards and ordered graduation announcements. We have completed our New York Trip Plans and as the year- book goes to press, we Seniors will be on our way to the big city I Senior Homeroom t is nice to be important, -1 but more important to be nice. Some of its activities included the selling of savings stamps, movies for the students and the planning of the Halloween party. As a judiciary body, the Student Council has the power to try minor cases of student infraction of rules of con- duct on school busses and in the halls. The Student Council held a contest for naming the school. The name sel- ected was Panthers. The winners of the contest were Pamela Campbell, Joseph Snell, and Evan Harper. Included in this year's program is Twerp Week where the girls carry the boys' books, open doors for them etc. Any girls violating them will have to wear a twerp sign. Twerp week will end with a dance on a Friday night. At football and basketball games P.H. C.S. pennants were sold. Moving Up Day will wind up the year's activities. After thirty weeks of work, Patricia Wright resigned the Student Council pres- idency. Norman Hoyt assumedher duties. Shirley Conklin was elected Vice-Presi- dent by the Student Council members. 5, SZ , my STUDE T COUNCIL +:'. We participated in the judging con- tests at Gouverneur and Hammond fairs, also at the Canton A.T.I. judging meet. We attended the chapter meeting farm and forum contests. The forum contests consisted of five boys serving on a panel to discuss the topic, How Farm Accidents May Be Prevented? The chapter meeting is a contest where the officers and four of the members hold a meeting using correct parliamentary pro- cedure. Our group won first award in the chapter meeting and second place in the farm forum contest. On March 2, the annual F.F.A, banquet was held with Mr. Stromberg as guest speaker. Slides concerning Japanese farm culture and economics were shown.
