DEDICATION Mrs. Clay Roseberry Numerous factors determine the development of a young person during his high school years. Throughout this period, the student is transformed from a carefree individual to a vigorously maturing adult. Experiences and people are significant influences which help to shape the teenage personality. This year the seniors have selected Mrs. Clay Roseberry as their idea of an outstanding teacher. Through her energetic activity and contagious enthusi- asm inside and beyond the classroom, she arouses interest and vitality in all those who are inspired by her zest for living. She has taught us the value of time, the importance of sincerity, the beauty of simplicity, and the reward of optimism. With these thoughts in mind, the graduating class of 1972 dedicates this yearbook to Mrs. Roseberry in recognition of her loyal devotion and enduring dedication. 2 1972 PARISIAN During one's high school career many moods, feelings, and talents arc expressed at some time or an- other. Joy, sorrow, peace and con- tentment, among others, all help, in their own way, to mold one's high school career. While we look ahead to the future, we reflect on the past, especially since this is the 50 th Anniversary of the Parisian. Look into a reflection and join us as we present the highlights of 1972 and its graduating class. IN MARCHING AND CONCERT 4 THE P.H.S. They are Danny Biddle, Tinder Harris Curt Park, Wheeler Gwaltney, and Mark Wells. This is one of the youngest teams to ever represent Paris High School. Most schools that they play will have two or three seniors. The last time a golf team won a trophy for Paris High was in 1956. With the desire and determination that these young men have, they will have one of the best teams in the state their senior year. This year the team will probably not go to the State as a whole, but maybe some individuals can make it. Danny Biddle and Tinder Harris are strong pos- sibilities and with a little more practice, I am sure they will represent Haris at the State Golf Tournament which is held at Fort Knox, Kentucky in May. The C.K.C. Tourney is at a new site this year. It is a new course in Anderson County. This course is supposed to be one of the toughest courses in the state. The golf team has had a tough schedule so far, and the ones in the future are also going to be tough. These young men have a great future ahead of them and with luck and sup- port, they just might bring home a trophy. Coach David Randolph coaches the young men. He has done an outstanding job so far. Good luck to Coach P.andolph and the golf team'. Golf Team Contingent: Wheeler Gwaltney, Tin- der Harris, Mark Wells, Curt Park, and DannyBid- dle. Their coach is Mr. Dave Randolph. ALUMNI BANQUET “THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES” Larry Graves is the recipient of the Alumni Scholarship. Presenting the award is Mrs. Betty Jo Heick. j Holding julep cups are Miss Janice Sturgeon, receiver of the Alumni Cup to the Outstanding Senior and Mr. Thom- as Buckner, winner of the Kirkpatrick Cup. On May 20, 1972 the graduating class of 1972—99 strong—attended the annual Alumni Banquet in the Fine Arts Cen- ter cafeteria. Being newly ordained members into one of the oldest such organizations in the state, if not the nation, the class had an opportunity to enjoy good food, meaningful speeches, watch loyal leaders in action, and just enjoy the fellowship. This truly added up to a night to remember for the seniors who attended! The 1922 graduating class at PHS observed its 50th anniversary at the banquet. In attendance were: Henry Clay, Mrs. R. B. McClure, Miss Gilbert Lavin, Miss Alice McClintock, Mrs. David Morton, Mrs. T. R. Fox, Reid Bishop, Mrs. Gene Lair, Miss Josephine Ewalt, Mrs. Woodrow Clark, Mrs. A. J. Glenn, Mrs. William Mclntire, Mrs. Clyde Robinson, Mrs. Ralph Dalton, Mrs. John C. Clay, Mrs. George Bruce Miller, John Williams. Mr. William T. McConnell, vice- president of the Senior Class, was elected vice-president of the Alumni Association. 74 V jiyvms JUNIORS Anna Allen David Allen Beth Anderson Steve Barnes Leslie Bishop Ricky Bishop Gonzella Black Ralph Black Robbie Boyle Kavin Brannock Cheryl Britton Gary Brown OFFICERS Robin Burns T reasurer Lisa Parker Secretary Eula Noel President Kathlene Hutsell Vice-President PARIS AOM. This published record will prove to be a prized reference over the years to look back and remember —the last test studied, the last book opened, the last dress made, the last note played, the last points scored, or the last lock opened. Perhaps no one knows better the countless hours that go into the production of a yearbook than our sponsor, Mrs. Stanley Richard. She has taken a keen interest in the yearbook and has been an INVALU- ABLE AID. It is with deep grati- tude to you, Mrs. Richard, that we express a heartfelt thank you! There is nothing we can give you which you have not; but there is much that while we cannot give you can take. No heaven can come to us unless our hearts find rest in today . . . TAKE HEAVEN. The gloom of the world is but a shadow; behind it, yet within reach is joy . . . TAKE JOY. And so at this time, we greet you with the prayer that for you, now and forever, the day breaks and the shadows flee away . . . TAKE TOMORROW 109 Fra Giovanna 880.1(1 0|I |ft0||00 ..IO|lll $
