Parisian 1970 Published by Senior Class Paris High School, Paris, Kentucky. During his years as principal, Mr. Paul E. Patrick contin- ually stressed his desire for Paris High School to excel in all of its undertakings. Every effort should produce results that are, as he said, “the best”. As a tribute to Mr. Patrick, we have chosen this idea as the theme for our yearbook. We now present to you the best of 1970- Indication k_ Miss Alice McClintock Mrs. Louise Clay The Annual Staff always has a difficult task in selecting a worthy individual for its dedication. This has been even more of a problem this year because there are two individuals who deserve this honor. Miss Alice McClintock and Mrs. Louise Clay have given their time and effort in contributing to the educational welfare of the students at Paris High School. A University of Michigan graduate. Miss McClintock has been a teacher for forty-three years, the last thirty-three of these being at Paris. During these years she has not only been a teacher of Latin and English and Latin Club sponsor, but also dedicated to her job. Having missed only twelve days during her forty-three years of teaching, she has been an asset to Paris High as a whole. Mrs. Louise Clay claims the University of Illinois as her alma mater and has done graduate work at the University of Kentucky. Serving as an excellent librarian, Mrs. Clay has been at Paris High for thirty-seven years. In addition to her duties in the library, she has served many years as the sponsor of the yearbook. She has done an outstanding job in guiding the seniors in their production of the annual. 2 It is with grateful recognition that we dedicate this annual to these two ladies. He died, he died without cause. Oh! i do not feel— i do not know. Yesterday he was here. He smiled and he laughed. We talked, i saw him. Alive-full of life. Where is he now? Why he today? The sky is blue, the air is cool. The sun shines. They laugh and joke. But he cannot—or can he? i knew him—i did not know him. He laughed, was funny. Nice, i liked him i loved him? Tears i feel. Do come and cleanse me. Wash away my grief. But i cannot grieve, i knew him not. He was happy. Happier now? i did not miss him this morning, know him not to be here. But now he is gone. He was not mine. Why do i feel for him? How will i feel for mine? When they are gone. Tears will not wash away— his laughter, his smile, his voice. The years may-but i will live. He will live. The yearbook is finished and so are they. 106 Jfardnell Four years is a long time -too long to forget. We look around and ask —where did it go? We worked, we played —but for four years? Then we look the other way —into tomorrow. Suddenly we’re not so tall as we thought we were And not so smart. But we find that somehow We learned a decisive lesson at Paris High something we wouldn’t have had without the teachers and administration, without our fellow students -a direction into that uncertain tomorrow. It can never be so dark again Though the world may change and the times change and we change. We, the Senior Class of 1970, have worked four long years to achieve the prestige of being a Senior. During this period we have always tried to show the most school spirit, be an outstanding class as a whole, and, in general, always produce the best results. We want to thank the faculty and administration for their sincere cooperation and support throughout our high school years. We geniunely hope we have succeeded in reaching our goal—that people will look back on the class of 1970 and regard it as....... THE BEST. 107 r in tor collogkilc pro««
