The Parisian 1968 Published by Senior Class Paris High School Paris, Kentucky FOREWORD As we the Seniors of 1968 cast our- selves into this huge, wonderful, troubled world, we know that we will always have precious school memories . This our yearbook is a record of our school achievements and failures . We leave P.H.S . with a challenge to set our goals high, grasp opportunity, give ser- vice and face life with hearts filled with courage and hope. Table of Contents Dedication i School Life Administration Faculty Seniors , Underclassmen Organizations Activities Advertisements Dedication Mr. William B. Reed We, the Senior Class of 1968, dedicate our yearbook to a man who has been in the teaching profession for a long time. For twenty-five years, he has worked ceaselessly to help cultivate the minds and mold the spirits of countless students . We realize what an awesome yet rewarding task this has been, because a teacher as dedicated to his profession as Mr. Reed finds much satisfaction and little regret from his life time work. 4 HOMECOMING QUEEN Mimi Sadler, a blond, blue- eyed senior, was chosen as the 1967 Homecoming Queen. Being chosen on her personality and her outstanding popularity with the Paris High Senior Class, she personifies the grace and beauty that is characteristic of a queen. School Life 6 I DIDN'T MEAN IT THE WAY IT SOUNDED1 School Life As the winters come and go, they leave behind some scenes of beauty that show their effect upon our world. This winter has been no exception. We have tried to re- capture some of this beauty through pictures in order that our readers may behold the beauty that we have been able to see. 7 • mfm£ Who’s Who Who’s Who MOST VERSATILE NANCYE SPEAKES BOARDMAN HOUGH FLIRTIEST DONNA WHITE SAM ZUNIGA TALLEST AND SHORTEST MARY ANN WHITE WILLIAM JOHNSON MONTE KING WITTIEST SALLY MITCHELL PAUL CARPENTER 11 Who’s Who ONE WHO SLEEPS MOST IN CLASS MIKE SUNLEY MIMI SADLER MOST LIKELY TO GET BY PALMA BOLLING STEVE TUBBS BIGGEST CUT-UP SUE ROBINSON BOBBY WEIGOTT MOST VERSATILE KENNY WOODS LINDA WAGONER 12 Administration The 1968 School Board Mr. Doug Castle Mr. Edward Sutherland Mr. William Woodford Mr. Willmard Watson Dr. J. This fine new building includes a cafeteria and an auditorium which seats 518 and can be used for programs by the entire community. The building was dedicated later in the spring when the Music Department, under the direction of Mr. T. A. Siwicki presented its annual Spring Concert. We hope that this new Fine Arts Center will be a cultural center for the school and the community in the future. 50 Beta Club Club Members Club Officers The motto of the Beat Club is 'ducamus alliis serviendo, ' 'let us lead by serving others'. The Paris High Beta Club has served in many ways, sending clothing to institutions, working with the Red'Cross, and sponsoring College and Career night at Paris High School. The club also has sent books to Viet-Nam and has sent Care packages abroad. Members of the Paris Beta Club have spoken on the radio, during election year, to encourage voting. They have sold tickets at ball games, and have ushered at both commence- ment and baccalaureate. Most of the time and energy of the Betas has been put into the Red Cross program. The Paris Beta now has established a Junior High Beta Club. We initi- ated twelve new members into the high school chapter. The 1967-1968 officers of the club were: Kathy Goode, president, Jimmy Lovell, vice-president, Nancye Speakes, secretary, and Mary Alverson, treasurer. 52 Speech Club N.F.L. Speech Club Officers Another successful year of work has been completed by the members of the Speech Club, under the direction of Mr. Rose. We were represented at eight speech meets--including the regional, state and NFL district tournaments. One play was pre- sented at the Regional Drama Festival. As a result of the competition, students earned a total of eight trophies, and five members were added to the National Forensic League. Four NFL members re- ceived degrees of honor, and one degree of excellence was awarded. The club's activities were financed by the proceeds of several bake sales and the sale of Paris High pens. The 1967-1968 officers of the Speech Club are: Nancye Speakes, president, Mary Margaret Kenney, vice-president, Kathy McClain, secretary, John Grubbs, treas- urer . 53 N.F.L.
