Text from Pages 1 - 120 of the 1967 volume:

Foreword We have encountered many challenges in our short preparatory school career. We have learned much and forgotten much but we have been strengthened by the challenge of learning. We know that this is not the end but only the beginning. Now that we have passed this major milestone, we must seek out and conquer many more. Let us be able to say as the future brings its problems, its joys and sorrows— If these so many years have passed, what then? They had their pleasant memories and have set; We who may first have faltered now are firm: the frivolous moments bring but faint regret. And now in forward gear for golden time, Where does the map direct? Where do we go? What project needs our skill, our time, our heart? On what the riches of our lives bestow? Though roads may wear, horizons have no ends: to-day our challenge is the stars, my friends!' Seniors te ‘ Administration and Faculty Organizations Activities Advertisements Student Life Underclassmen Sophomores Dedication MR. PAUL E. PATRICK We, the Senior Class of 1967 dedicate this annual to our Principal, Mr. Paul E. Patrick. His guidance and leadership in this his first year of service as principal, have greatly developed the students’ interest in academic and social affairs at Paris High. Mr. Patrick’s support and enthusiasm in athletic endeavors have been proven by the successful year of the “Mighty Greyhounds.” Perhaps, the greatest contribution Mr. Patrick has made in the school year, ‘66-‘67 is his influence upon a well-balanced student-teacher relationship. In Mr. Patrick’s own words: “My door is always open, not only to you as a student, but also as a friend.” Administration The Administration and School Board Meet the Challenge for Better Education. Even during this interlude, the band was plenty busy all year long. For the fourth straight year the bandsmen won first place in their division at the Fayette Lions Club Invitational Contest. At the Ken- tucky Marching Band Festival Paris won a superior, but at the State Music Contest, Paris, after thirteen consecutive years of superior ratings, under a new rating system only received an excellent. All of the band’s activity was not along this line, as the band also sponsored an auction, a turkey dinner, a dance, and a picnic. The band has been working hard this year in order to have fun in the sun next year. Two band members received high honors at the end of the year. Jimmy Lovell was chosen to travel to Europe with the Band of America, and Boardman Hough was chosen to become a member of the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra. 47 Parisianaires The choir, a much larger group than the Parisianaires, practiced during the year and sang several times. All of the members of the Parisianaires were also members of the choir, and a large number were also members of the band. 48 The Parisianaires had a rather busy year, with several engagements during the year, especially around the Christmas sea- son. The Parisianaires sang at the annual Christmas concert, at the Lion's Club Minstrel, and at the Baccalaureate for the senior class. This group was well balanced and deserved all the praise it was given for its efforts. Choir It’s just a pencil! Buddies??? Trapped! They were given the option of either taking a class trip or building a senior courtyard. Over two-thirds of the class voted to spend their time and money toward build- ing the courtyard. On Tuesday April 25 with picks, shovels, and determination the seniors gathered and set out thirty shrubs aod two trees. Later some concrete benches were added. Unfortunately the plaque did not arrive before school was out. Dedication of the courtyard was postponed until a later date. 53 Mr. Bland'mgs Builds His Dream House Our Cast Director: Mrs. Roseberry CAST Jim Blandings . Muriel Blandings Betsy...........
