Beta Club President-Betty Goodman Vice-Pres. -Perry Wornall Secretary-John King Treasurer-Cynthia Hollis The Beta Club is a non-secret, achievement, service organization for students of senior high schools. The first purpose of the club is the promotion of citizenship, scholarship and leadership. Its aims are to co-operate with the administration of the high school in forwarding the school programs and to cultivate a desire for a more abundant life. The Paris High School Beta Club is one of the oldest and most cultured clubs in the state. This past year its members attended the state convention in Louisville, Kentucky. One of the club's biggest projects was supporting the Blood Mobile and helping in the fund drive. Another service was the sponsoring of a College Night and a Career Night. In all ways the club has tried to live up to its motto--To lead by serving others! 26

Latin Club President-Jerry Allen Secretary-Mar ilyn Frye Vice-President-John King Treasurer-Jo Ann Courtney Miss Gilbert Lavin Sponsor The warm Mediterranean climate is brought vividly to view by the Paris High Latin Club. In the spring the members spread the Roman influence by putting on a Roman banquet. Each member dressed in a Roman costume trying to represent some famous Roman scholar, mythical characters, or one of the Roman deities. This year the members had varied programs in connection with either the Roman history or the Latin language. The members viewed films, performed Latin plays, and told fortunes. Each grade from the tenth to the twelfth took turns in preparing the programs, as has always been the custom. Those who take Latin in the tenth through the twelfth grade may be members. The Latin Club tries to promote the study of classical literature and culture, and the effects of Latin on our own language. 25

A monthly magazine, Drama- tics is published by the National office which reviews various troupes and their productions. The Paris Thespian troupe is a sporadic child of the well established Speech Club. The 1965-66 school year is the first year that it has operated as a separate organization.
