Senior Pal Oh, it seems to me befitting, Senior Pal To sit here and reminisce a little while. Do you recall a way back when Our kindergarten days began? Many a test we've passed since then, Senior Pal. Oh, I held so very tightly to Mother's hand. My little heart thumped to beat the band. But very soon, I now remember, Thirty days had passed of September School days now were glowing embers, Senior Pal. And each day we forged ahead to learn, Reading, writing, and arithmetic in turn, From many a teacher kind, yet stern. Oh, we were progressing from day to day Going scholastically on our way, Senior Pal. How fast, how quickly, the days have flown And here we are, to Seniors we have grown. Memories, we have, we'll never forget, Those many incidents we’ll cherish yet, On this I’d likely win a bet, Senior Pal. But the day has come to go on our way. What! Aren't you feeling glad and gay? The day is here, we've reached our place, So take your diploma, there's no time to waste. We are on to higher goals, and must make haste, Senior Pal. Yes, we will be parting here today, Each of us will go on a different way So if you're ready let's not delay. May God, guide your steps near or afar May God always bless you wherever you are, Senior Pal. Joyce Whitlow FIRST ROW, SEVENTH GRADE: Bobby Baldwin, Marilyn Merringer, Lonnie Owens, and Tommy Turner. Our homeroom teachers are Miss Purcell, Mrs. Traylor, and Mr. Bloss, who left at mid- term and was replaced by Mr. Correll. Nan Sheeler and Pat Watson were elected cheerleaders. The basketball boys of the seventh grade helped the eighth graders to win every game. We were very happy, and still are, to be a part of Junior High. Adams Eads Lovell Roe, W. He is happily married now and has two little ones who help him mix the paints and find the parts. JANE ARNSPARGER has chosen a very odd career. Back in high school twenty years ago, she couldn’t make up her mind if she wanted to be a mortician or a dancing teacher. I recently found out that she is teaching part time dancing at the Arnsparger Funeral Home. ELEANOR AREDERY left for France right after graduation from high school where she was introduced to the French Premiere’s son. He was so overcome by Eleanor’s charm and beauty that he married her immediately and she has not yet returned from France. BOONE BALDWIN is now the owner of the nationally famous chain of “Baldwin-Astoria Hotels,” which feature southern style cooking, fabulous suites and penthouses -- and Boone’s corny jokes. Mr. and Mrs. James Bennett are now residing in New York where Mr. Bennett is Vice-President of Proc- tor and Gamble. It seems funny to look back at “our little Fran” and then to picture her as a prominent New Y ork social leader. Mrs. Robert Ray Williams, the former MISS JANE BISHOP, has recently become the owner of a house in Florida where Robert is head of the Hinkle Construction Company. At first Jane wanted to live in a trailer, but when the first one was blown three miles in a Florida hurricane, they decided on something a little better anchored. CHARLOTTE BOLING has really made a name for herself. It seems that she is leading the life of quite a social figure with all her teas, dances, and week-end yacht parties. But that is to be expected when you are the wife of someone like Admiral Gayle Rees who is now head of the Naval Academy at Annapolis. Mrs. Larry Jordan, the former MISS LINDA BOLING, has recently been appointed head Therapist at the Cardinal Hill Hospital at Lexington. Mr. and Mrs. Jordan have recently moved there with their three sons George, Hunter, and Ells, and their daughter Gail. EDDIE BREEZE is now the chief engineer for Kentucky State Highways and has recently completed a super highway through Kentucky. Ironically this highway was the one over which the Honorable “Happy” Chand- ler returned home from the national convention after seven unsuccessful attempts for a nominations to the Presidency. Mr. and Mrs. Coleman Southerland now own the nation’s largest drag strip. Mrs. Sutherland, the former MISS BETTY BRUNNER always wanted to own a drag strip. Her dream came true when the couple pur- chased the old Pa. Turnpike with money she won as the national Powder Puff champion (a drag race for women). COLONEL WINSTEAD THOMAS BUCKNER and his wife, the former Miss Jo Ann Booth are now very prosperous land owners, with “Eden” as part of their vast estate. Colonel Buckner also owns an insurance firm. He sells a special insurance which insures drivers and their cars after collisions with mules on small country roads. Mr. and Mrs. James Foster McKinney, the former MISS FRANCES GAY BURNETT, are now living in Dublin, Ireland where they own a large estate in a mountain village. Mr. McKinney is racing sports cars for a celebrity and Mrs. McKinney is modeling her husband’s cars. BETTY ARNOLD surprised us all when she changed her name to Betty Coburn during our Senior year. Her husband has been very successful in his job and Betty has been successful as a housewife and mother. They now have three cute little children. COLONEL HUGH CROMBIE was a test pilot with the U. S. Air Force until one day when he was testing a new rocket which went off course and landed on the planet Mars. There must be life on the planet (especi- ally female life) because Colonel Crombie radioed back that he had no desire to return to Earth. When RONALD DAILEY was in typing class he never wore his glasses. Now he is wearing them and it surely helps. Ronald recently won the annual typing contest and is leaving soon on his trip around the world — with his glasses. PHYLLIS DOTSON married a college boy who thought he wanted to be a Mec. Engineer, but Phyllis changed his mind after they became man and wife. He is now an Engineer and Designer for the Studebaker Com- pany and Phyllis is a test driver. Mr. and Mrs. CARL GAUNCE are now living at Kentucky Lake. After many years of Bachelorhood and fishing alone, Carl finally got hooked. Janet finally hooked her angler. Did you read in the paper where Mrs. Harry Case, the former MISS MARY B. EWALT, has given birth to a darling set of twins? After serving two years required time, Harry decided he liked the Navy so well that he’s making a career of it. He is currently commanding a U. S. destroyer where (by the way) Mary Bennett gave birth to the twins. There were a lot of people in our class to be proud of, for instance, there is Hank Everman who is now Governor of Kentucky. The remarkable thing about that is that Hank was the only person in the class who registered Republican and now he is the first Republican Governor in forty- eight years that Kentucky has had. JOHN ANN FARRIS really gave us all a shock when she up and married a prominent young lawyer whom she met through her profession as secretary to Grover Baldwin, Jr. She is now mother of five girls -- Bobbie, Billye, Joey, Jerri, and Johnnie. Mr. and Mrs. LEWIS BENJAMIN FUGATE, JR. have really become quite wealthy. Mr. Fugate and his wife, the former Miss Vicki Bradford, now have extreme interests in Las Vegas, Nevada. Benny, instead of going to Roselawn to play the pin ball machine, is now going to Las Vegas to play the slot machines. Back in high school, MARY ALLEN GARRISON never expressed the desire of becoming a bookkeeper be- cause she felt that she wasn’t good at this. However, she is now teaching this subject at Fugazzi Business School. Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Moreland, the former MISS JUDY GOINS, have recently moved to Africa to set up a chain of A P Stores. They give King Kong Stamps too. MR. EDWARD GOREY has really overwhelmed us. In high school, he was always so quiet and he usually slept through Geo. Class, but lately he won a contest. Eddie talked in his sleep for ten hours without stop- ping. After serving his time with Uncle Sam, DANNY JEFFERSON returned to Kentucky and entered the Univer- sity where he majored in physical education and coaching. After he graduated he became coach at PJ-I.S. Since then, the team has been undefeated. MR. JOHN JOHNSON, a former usher at Schines Theater in Paris during his high school days, is now the owner of a chain of Johnson Theaters throughout the Nation. His theaters are furnished with the latest equipment for showing motion pictures. After graduation MISS JUDY JORDAN entered an Airline School in Florida to become a stewardess. Judy served as stewardess for American Airlines for five years after which she married the pilot of the plane. Now she is fulfilling her other desire in life -- modeling for a famous agency in Miami. MISS BARBARA KELLEY thought she wanted to be an Airline Receptionist, but for some strange reason changed over to the Floral Business where she is now in keen competition with the florists in Paris, mainly Smits Greenhouse. MISS CAROL KELLY while in high school always expressed a desire to teach school so that she could be with small children. Her career was halted abruptly when she married. But she returned to her profession when she started teaching her eight children. MISS CATHY KENNEDY, after graduation moved back to Montgomery County where she is now living a happy and contented life. We just read in the Chicago Tribune where MISS ALICE LAWRENCE has just won die tallest tale contest. Her story featured her High School Days. MR. WILLIAM K. LA FRANA has followed up his desire to become a teacher. He is now die head of the English Department at the U. of K. Bill still gets in a rut sometimes and has to come back and consult Miss Noland, our standby. After eight long years of law school and finally passing the Bar Exam, followed by several years of prac- ticing, MISS EMMA CAROL LOGAN has at last won her first case. She rescued our Mexican Bongo Drum Player from the Tijuana Jail. (HARRY SEE) MR. BILL LUCKY is now stage manager of comedy now playing in New York which is a great sucess. Bill got his start being the stage manager for the Senior Play “Meet Me in St. Louis.” Didn’t he do a great job? Mr. and Mrs. VIRGIL LYONS are now living in San Francisco where he is the owner of die nation-wide Penney and Company. He got his start by working in the afternoons at the Penney Store in Paris. MR. JEMMY MORRIS, who spent almost all his spare time in high school working at the Standard Oil Sta- tion is now the District Manager of Standard Oil Stations in Kentucky. His spare time work must have really paid off. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Baird, die former MISS ELIZABETH MC CANN are now living in Lex, Kentucky, where they are the owners of Keeneland Race Track. Their thoroughbred horse, Black Tombstone won the Kentucky Derby. Besides providing the world's best horses, they are the proud parents of five boys. MRS. ELINOR MC CAULEY, a well known novelist around Kentucky has written two books. Her first was “Why I Hate Men” and a few years later her second book was published which was entitled “The 101 Joys of Being Married.” Wonder why she changed her mind? After MR. REGINALDMONSON graduated from Asbury College, he started his career as an evangelist. He has now taken the place of the world famous Billy Graham. You’d never guess it! After many years of unsuccessful marriages JO ANN NEWMAN is now President of the “Lonely Hearts Club.” Her motto, “Love 'em, beat ’em, cheat ’em, and leave ’em. JERRY ORMES just recently won an Academy Award for his outstanding role in his latest movie, “The Trials and Tribulations of a Street Car Conductor.” His great talent was first recognized by a movie scout when we were giving our Senior Play in 1959. Jerry did such a great job that the scout just couldn’t pass him up. MR. BILLY WAYNE OWNES is now owner of his own T.V. show “The Bill Owens Chevy Show” Billy Wayne enjoyed singing so much and did so well at contest that he decided to further his career. MR. HUNTER PIPES, JR., after finishing college migrated with all the rest of the coaches to Florida. He is now head coach of the University of Florida in Gainsville, Mrs. Pipes, the former Miss Patty Insko, no longer has to worry about getting a tan because now she keeps it all year around. MR. EARL SAYLOR is now owner of Western Auto in Lex. He got his start at the Kirkpatrick Western Auto in Paris and liked the business so much that he opened his own store. MR. JACK WARNER SHOUT is now the President of the United States. Jack was President of his Senior Class in 1959 at P.H.S. and fame followed him into the future. MR. BOBBY WAUGH, the famous race car driver has again won the five hundred mile race at Indiana- polis. He has held this honor for the last ten years. He got his start through driving hot rods and drag racing down Main Street of Paris. MR. JOE WELLS became interested in being a mortician when he became interested in a certain Senior girl who was interested in the same profession. Now they are in keen competition and we are still hoping that someday they will combine their business. Mrs. Joey Fightmaster, the former MISS JOYCE WHITLOW has moved back to her hometown of Detroit, Michigan, where her husband is now President of the Square D Company of Michigan. MISS APRIL ANN WILLIAMS and MISS NETTIE WILLIAMS ironically chose the same career which is nursing. After going to the same nursing school and getting an equal education, they both were sent to the Mayo Clinic to work. Here the competition really started for with equal education they were always fight- ing for the position of head nurse. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Worick, the former MISS SALLY JONES, are now living at their country estate where they are equipped with all the modern conveniences. Among these are a huge lake where THE Wor- icks go boating and fishing. They have an artillery field for Wilson and also a nursery for all their little tots. Back at P.H.S., everytime someone asked EMMA CHARLES what she wanted to do after school, she would reply, “Get a Job.” Now she has a job -- helping others find jobs. Emma is now running an Unemployment Agency. MRS. RICHARD CARPENTER, the former Miss Patty Hudnall, joined her husband when he returned from overseas. She liked Marine life so mucli that she talked him into making a career of it. He is now a Major and the father of four little Marines. Commencement Jack Shout, President receives diploma.
