One visible change is the size, shape, and design of the school flag. Another change can be seen in the cheerleading squad. In the past cheerleaders, known as yell leaders, in- cluded both guys and girls. One thing has not changed. Students, parents, and friends continue to back the Cats with pep rallies and super attendance at Noyes Stadium. Whether at home or on the road, Wildcat fans ring the Cats on to victory each week. In l ' )44. the Wildcats were ready to dump Deni; :m 3-, ftf ; Everyone eagerly awaits homecoming events. No other pep rally can radiate more excitement. Three nominees are greeted by the crowd with everyone wondering who the new queen will be. Using suggestions from the student body, a hard-working Student Council selects a theme whi h is carried out in all of the activities of Homecoming. A parade downtown has become a tradi- tion. Time has not ruffled the spirit of the cheerleaders nor has it changed the blasts from the Blue Blazes Band. Glitter, glue, crepe paper, and magic markers help bring the dream to life. Streams of blue and white can be seen at every turn. Perhaps designs, styles, and cars have changed, but the elec- tricity of a parade can never change. Rodney Flippen was a yell leader in 1960. In 1984 Varsity cheerleaders enjoy the Homecoming parade. Homecoming 9
