May, 1955 - 3 - PJC exchange students told of their homes and customs at the F.H.A. meeting. lO - National Honor Society entertained its grad- uating Seniors with a dinner at Gibraltar Hotel. 20-Junior-Senior Prom, a happy but sad occa- sion tor many PHS students. 24 - Last social gath- ering tor '55 Seniors was Senior-Faculty picnic at Lake Crook. 26-'55 Senior Class concluded its last assembly program with the singing ot Auld Lang Syne. 29 - The Commencement Sermon was given at First Methodist Church. Other events on the May, l955, calendar included '55 Owl Dedi- cation on the 23rd, exams, report cards, picnics, hay rides, checking in books, etc., and the Student Council wound up another busy year with a party. The Ambition of Every Athlete . . . June, 1955-3-The Commencement exer- cise tor the Class of '55. Mr. .lustiss presented Mary Katherine Reece and Johnny Burke the awards for Best All-Round boy and girl in the class. The State Baseball Championship was won by the Paris High School Wildcats in Austin. 4 - The Paris High School Baseball Team entered Paris with a motorcade escort ot Paris fans. The team was escorted to the Plaza, and after a parade, from a huge platform the i955 State Schoolboy Champions were introduced and given the honor they deserved. 7M Estelle Moore hon- ored the 1955 Senior Class and Faculty of Paris High School with a formal dance at the Gordon Country Club. lO-Our Baseball Champs were tetecl with a banquet given by the Paris Civic Clubs at the Boys Club Gymnasium.
