April, 1955-l-2-A large number ot Poris High School Ldtin students ottended the Junior Clossicol Leogue Stote Convention ot Golveston. l4-Tolented Jon Rcinney ossisted by his porents presented on interesting morionette show in os- sembly. 21-The Notionol Honor Society under the direction of Miss Mottie Belle Crook presenled o progrom on Texos Independence in ossembly. 28- Fifteen energetic students tried out for Yell Leoder positions, while the nominees for Student Council offices reveoled their loyolty by giving compoign speeches in ossembly. 29-The Senior Closs observed Senior Doy ot Poris Junior College. ln April, The '55 Owl went to Dollos to be bound for its debut in Moy, the Blue Blozes went to Brownsville, the Seniors gove their lost ossembly, ond Corolyn Fongio won the U.D.C. Dreams Come True Are Realized . . . May, 1955 - 3 - PJC exchange students told of their homes and customs at the F.H.A. meeting. lO - National Honor Society entertained its grad- uating Seniors with a dinner at Gibraltar Hotel. 20-Junior-Senior Prom, a happy but sad occa- sion tor many PHS students. 24 - Last social gath- ering tor '55 Seniors was Senior-Faculty picnic at Lake Crook. 26-'55 Senior Class concluded its last assembly program with the singing ot Auld Lang Syne. 29 - The Commencement Sermon was given at First Methodist Church. Other events on the May, l955, calendar included '55 Owl Dedi- cation on the 23rd, exams, report cards, picnics, hay rides, checking in books, etc., and the Student Council wound up another busy year with a party.
