The excitement of Homecoming filled the hallways of PHS from September 28 to October 3. Powder Puff started the festivities on Tuesday night with the Sophomores defeating the Freshman in the opening game. The Seniors shut out the Juniors in the second game and completely obliterated the Sophomores in the Championship Game, making a great last game of the seniors. Besides watching girls play football, Powder Puff fans also had the opportunity to watch guys become cheerleaders . Dressed in Varsity sweaters and skirts, the senior guys led the crowds in different cheers, and aroused spirit by building pyramids and demonstrating their gymnastics ability during half times. To conclude the week long Powder Puff season, the players, coaches, and spectators all took part in the traditional shaving cream fights. While breaking in the greenies, the upper classmen showed no mercy during this annual “initiation.” On Friday nite the Girls’ Gym, was filled with happy couples dancing to the high energy sounds provided by WZZQ. At 9:30 p.m. the court members were acknowledged and our royalty, Brad King and Cami Costa danced to the theme song. “Can’t We Try.” Saturday was a cold day but spirits were high. The parade began the busy day with the Freshman winning the float competition, Seniors second, then Sophomores and Juniors bringing up the rear. Class games were at 2:00 p.m. at Allen Field. Due to lack of people and materials needed for participation the Freshmen and Juniors had to forfeit many events; however, everyone still had a great time. The Seniors won class games and Spirit Week overall, with the Sophomores and the Juniors lost. Concluding Homecoming ‘87 was the football game, Paris vs. Mt. Zion. Although the valiant effort on the part of the Tigers was not enough to beat the undefeated Braves, they may have played one of their best games of the year. 14 Homecoming
