THE 1976 ARENA PARIS HIGH SCHOOL PARIS, ILLINOIS Editors— Linda Furnham Ka () rl Advisors— Miss Marian l -il Mrs. Marian out Because Americans are celebrating the 200th birthday of our country, it is only proper that the ARENA honor its past. Since 1910, the ARENA has been a tradition at Paris High School. It is something that is cherished long after graduation and the best way to recall those days of gladness 'neath the Orange and the Black. We, the 1976 ARENA Staff, dedicate our yearbook to all past advisors and yearbook staffs who have helped to make the ARENA a tradition at Paris High School. 2 i 1 Paris High 76” a Year Like No Other 3 5 Everybody Loves a Parade Freshman Float - 1st Juniors - 3rd place History of the Arena Several students co-operating with the faculty, published a book in 1910 called the Arena.” This name seemed suitable; as the arenas of the Middle Ages displayed the glories and pageants of ancient Rome, so this book recorded and revealed the events of the school year. Due to some objections to the title, the next year it was called the Pee Aitch Ess but since 1912, with the exception of 1915-1916 when a quarterly magazine, The Clarion replaced it, the Arena has been edited yearly. The Arena has a tradition of taking pictures of classes and teachers. To keep up with this tradition the 1976 Arena is presenting pictures of the old and the new. 12 13 Man’s Mind Stretched to a New Idea Never Goes Back to Its Original Dimensions Oliver Wendell Holmes M THE THRILL OF V C T 0 R Y 15 ( y's cs J90V A C0.
