The duties of a superintendent resemble the man shoveling sand against the tides—his work is never finished. His major concern, however, should be in selecting competent teachers and creating favorable conditions under which they can do their best work. But, it might be well to reflect a moment and remember that the quality of our educational program can only be as good as the quality and type of students we have in our schools. That's why we're proud of our schools and of you—our students. JOHN STABLER, superintendent Paris Union School District No. 95 CATHERINE J. PECK Bookkeeper and Secretary AAARGARET C. SULLIVAN Secretary to Superintendent 7

My greatest desire to provide the best educational program possible with the available resources. Donald E. Belt Education for every student in our public school system is the aim of the Board of Education. Students need to be introduced to as many areas of learning as possible, and it is the task of the Board of Education to provide facilities in which trained teachers establish and provide learning experiences that prepare students to find their places in a revolving society. Robert Gross A common ground for educating the youth of our country is found in our public school system. The Board of Education and teachers cooperate in preparing students for good citizenry and happy, useful lives in an adult world. William Patton 6

America needs citizens that are well educated in order to remain the greatest force in freedom. The generation that is now in our schools will be called upon, more than any other, to preserve the American ideals and rights that we now enjoy. The great challenge will come later in your life. The preparation for this challenge is here and now. If each student dedicates himself to the task of developing themselves physically, socially, mentally, emotionally and spiritually to the greatest possible degree, then we can be assured that ours will be an even more outstanding nation in the future. You can be assured that the faculty of Paris High School will do their utmost in all respects to see that you are provided with the knowledge and skills that are needed for your development. It remains up to each student to avail himself of the opportunities presented to him by the school and society. Joseph A. Doglio JOSEPH A. DOGLIO Principal of Paris High School ELLEN E. JOHNSON Secretary to the Principal 8
